Spent a few days around this village we loved this place , the staff are great and the owners are really friendly and genuinely happy to help and give you time. From the front the pub is a cozy stone built room with a real fire . The pub specials are the cask ales and spirits from local brewers . The beer garden out the back is huge and there is also a big room upstairs to accommodate bigger family’s couldn’t fault the venue . Food !!! the menu was simple but the quality of the food was great highly recommended the cheeseboard which has a range of some great local cheeses over All loved the time spent here with the locals plus situated right next to the main short stay car park so good for quick stop off if passing the village .

We were drawn here because it was so dog-friendly, and we weren't disappointed in that score as there's a menu just for dogs (ours had a pig ear) , and was given a little rug to lie on too. There wasn't a vast choice for Saturday night dinner but our vegetarian and meat pies with mash were great (as was the Dragon cider), the service was really friendly - and the music and ambience were spot-on too. Highly recommended, especially if you have a dog.

This is a must for all you pie lovers out there. The main menu is compact with a choice of 6 pies. We opted for the Moo (beef and ale) and the Moo & Blue (beef and Stilton). All pies come served with mash, peas and gravy. They were AH-MA-ZIN. All are made fresh to order. The pies are of a generous size with perfect crusts; nice and crispy, deeply filled with rich deep flavours. Good smooth creamy mash and perfect garden peas. The gravy was good although not thick enough for my personal preference. We didn't have any starters however there was a good selection available. A fantastically well stocked bar with huge choices of beers and gins. This is also a dog friendly pub, special watering hole out back for the canines. Finally, fab staff...very helpful and clearly happy to be at work. Great pub. Great food. Great service.

We arrived into our holiday cottage late as the roads where flooded after the Storm. It was 7:52pm when we got here, (kitchen closes at 8pm) we where greeted by friendly faces and a menu. We where starving! 4 adults and a child and our two dogs. Dogs where given beds which where very much appreciated :) we had pies, wings, chicken dippers, and mozzarella sticks. Everything was excellent! I could eat their steak and ale pie all day every day if I could. Nice cold Guinness was a very nice surprise too. Just the place you should visit to have good food and friendly atmosphere! We will be back.

We had a lovely evening here. Great outside area and nearby green areas/ playgrounds for older children. The restaurant staff were very accommodating, attentive and helpful. Food was tasty, drinks reasonably priced. We were a group of 12 but this didn't seem to pose any issues. Would recommend.

From start to finish, our experience was excellent. Our last Stag visit was pre-Covid, so under old management. We liked it then, but we love it now. The quality of the food was above anything you expect in a pub, the barman was pleasant, as was the young man who waited on us. In the bar there was a good buzz of conversation between groups, some local chatting to visitors. How often do you find that these days. But even more rarely, I actually asked the barman"are you sure you've charged me enough?" In the modern era of pubs ripping off tourists, I cannot recommend the Stag highly enough.

We stopped for lunch after seeing a sign for wood fired pizza. We were not disappointed, the pizza was made to order and tasted identical to pizza we've eaten in Italy. We'll done The Stagg Inn, we will be returning 👍👏😁

We stayed on a camp site in Dolgellau for the first time and googled nice places to eat near by. The stag Inn popped up and based on the pictures of the food we thought it looked great and I can confirm it didn’t disappoint. All the staff were extremely friendly, the outdoor area at the back is beautiful to sit in on a hot day, the pizzas we ordered (the Carne-vore and the Billy) where some of the nicest pizza we have ate in a long time and to top it off there was a local in there playing guitar at his table which was lovely! Would highly recommend eating and having a little drink here. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

Very good pub. Cask beer kept well and tasted fresh. Brilliant selection of craft beer and gins. We had the salumi platter to start which came with loads of salami, warm bread, olives and sun dried tomatoes. We then shared a pizza, the anti pasta pesto pizza. Fab dough, crisp and thin base with super tasty toppings, staff are really friendly and pub is very clean and well maintained and clearly very popular with locals and visitors.

We have had a week in Dolgellau and been in all the pubs in search of a good beer and the stag is the only one offering what I like which is craft beer they have a great selection sitting in the fridge as they should be. We have eaten there as well and the food is very good the pies are fantastic and I even pinched a bit of my wife's ceaser salad which was recommended by the staff and it was the best I've ever had. All the staff are very friendly but last night Gaius the bar lad exceed himself we had a cracking chat about the craft beer selection and he gave good advice but it's his awesome comic ability that had us laughing he went round the pub interacting with the customers and even threw in a silly dance that had my wife in fits of laughter he's an absolute star and really made everyone welcome. So for our last night you have guessed it its back to the stag.

I cannot emphasise how nice the gluten free pizza was here. The crust was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It didn't crumble. There was a dog menu so we ordered a pig's ear for the dog. And she was given treats from the staff and provided with a blanket to help her to settle. If we're back in the area we would definitely come back. I strongly recommend this pub.

We were a party of 16 that booked a pie n'mash evening meal weeks before we turned up for our meal. By this time we were down to 13 as for various reasons three were unable to join us. On arrival we met blank faces when we referred to our booking. The book came out and sure enough there we were. This had not registered with the staff. We were told there hadn't been a delivery that day (have you seen Monty Python's cheese shop sketch?) then that there were thirteen pies available, 7 vegetarian, 6 meat. Some of the carnivores in our party were happy to have the vegetarian pies so we could all eat together. Some of us then bought pre-dinner drinks in anticipation of our meal. We were then informed there were only 12 pies, not thirteen. Enough was enough, we left to eat elsewhere. There was no apology and no-one seemed to care. I'm not sure how the Stag remains in business with such indifference towards its customers. I was looking forward to the pie - the food reviews on here are good.

From the moment we entered, we were made welcome, especially our 8 year old Black Labrador! We ordered food and drinks and were presented with a rug for Max to lay on and he was given a treat to eat!! The food and drinks were superb, (differently themed pies, fabulous!) and were obviously home made. The barman, whose name i have forgotten (sorry!) was a delight, keeping all those in attendance served and entertained throughout the evening. Top Marks!!

We were lured in by the prospect of a pie called Kevin - suitable for vegans, served with mash peas and red wine gravy. Other vegetarian and meat pies also available. A limited menu but absolutely delicious. Great beer and an excellent music selection. We sat upstairs expecting an absence of atmosphere, but it was great. Great local beer selection. At table ordering system worked well, there’s also the option to order at the bar - remember that? Staff super helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

We had a meal there last week. Walked straight in with our dog and were immediately made to feel welcome. The food mostly consists of award winning pies served with mash and peas. There are veggie and gluten free options. The pies really were excellent, and proper pies - not the modern trend for a casserole with a pastry lid. Special mention must go to the guy at the bar who served us. Sorry I didn't get your name (short dark hair and glasses), but your easy going, friendly professionalism was just a joy to observe. Thank you very much for a lovely evening.
