My friend booked us a night here for her up coming birthday, the room was clean and the decor was nice, although the room became stiffling , we opened a window to solve the problem as there were no radiators in the room. there was no main light, which would of come in handy when trying to find things. The breakfast was lovely, although a tad expensive at £15.00 pounds, £10 if you pre-book.. I can't comprehend how any breakfast can cost more than £6 pounds let alone £15?? I opted for the Veggie, as I am Vegan, only to find the 'sausages contained cheese, would be helpfull if this was pointed out on the menu, but over all it was delicious and served hot, which i like! The waitress wasn't rude but she didn't have the comunication skills expected for a 5* Hotel... she didn't ask how are stay had been and make general chit-chat, which in my opinion, makes your experience a whole more welcoming.. she was the only staff visible at 8.30am ... i'm only pointing this out for the Hotel to amend, but as a paying customer i would like a little more pleasantry.. anyone who doesn't like conversation or isn't bothered by it, you would find the service prompt and that is all.

I’m a bit torn about this review, we met up with friend in the area who are shortly to be moving away, and we’d not seen them for a while, so there was a lot of chatting going on. The guy who served us was really lovely, very friendly and joined in our banter which was nice.
But…
The drinks took a long time to come, it took ages for our food order to be taken and the food wasn’t that great.
I had the scallops to start and there was far too much spring onion on the dish which completely overpowered the flavour of the scallops.
My husband and our friend shared the fisherman’s platter which was very nice.
I had the salad which I wanted with pan fried sea bass but they were out so I went for the griddled chicken; it didn’t look like it had been griddled, more like put on a warm radiator. There was no avocado, as the menu stated and the potatoes were rock hard…. That, and again, too many spring onions which just overpowered the taste of everything.
They took my salad off the bill, but I’m definitely not in a hurry to go back when there are so many other good eateries in the area, including Sage Kitchen and Dylan’s

Dog was made very welcome which was great!
Food - good - cheese and onion pie was nice, as were the fish and chips. Felt it was on the expensive side for the quality of the food though.
Girl behind the bar was quite grumpy and unwelcoming, quite rude when reminded her we were missing a drink and again when informed we were still waiting on a dessert. The reason was, “we’re very busy”. Gave benefit of doubt, but ended up asking a second person about the dessert (espresso and ice cream so not a lengthy thing to make) - waited 30 mins in all for dessert.

As part of the government eat out scheme we appreciated that it would be busy. In line with covid regulations we arrived 5 minutes before our table booking and were seated swiftly ( A pleasing start) Having been sat for a good 25 minutes with no acknowledgement from any servers, I finally caught the attention of a waiter. He proceeded to take our drinks order and in light of the wait we already had, we ordered our meals too. Orders placed the drinks arrived shortly after. It was another 30 minutes before our food arrived- no apology given. Meals were ok (bearing in mind the discount due to the eat out scheme) I would not have paid full price for the measly portion of my chicken dish.
Table cleared we asked for dessert-another 30 minute wait to which I asked to cancel and for the bill. I was told our order was on its way but given the option to take away with us which we chose- not ideal as 4 of the 5 desserts had ice cream.
Great that the scheme is bringing in custom, sad that they just don’t have the staff or organisational skills to deal with the volume of customers all be they social distanced.
Apologies go a long way, none offered. With many on board with the eat out scheme there are many outlets on the Island participating, we as a family of 5 tried you but you failed us and no repeat performance required.
Such a shame

Absolutely disgusting. We went as a family, 4 adults and 2 children aged 4 & 7, for a meal. Firstly we were shown to a table in the bar right next to where people went in and out to smoke, the door was in continual use allowing the smell of cigarettes to come in and a continual draught. Secondly the drinkers in the bar were effing and blinding even though there were kids present. We ordered our meals together with the desserts for the kids. Three quarters of an hour later there was still no sign of the desserts for the kids. In the end we left without the kid's desserts. The service was terrible, considering that we had to order drinks from our table, not once did any of the staff came to ask if we wanted anything,. There were about 8 or 9 on duty and the place wasn't that busy!!! The only recommendation I can give to this place is.... go to the 'Bridge' restaurant over the road or the 'Jade Village' chinese restaurant down the road. It will be a long long time before I set foot in there again

As locals we often have a drink or snack at the Anglesey Arms and have always been happy with the service. Today, having ordered a snack lunch from the small bites and side order menu for 4 adults I can only say the food was sub standard. Having waited for 40 minutes for the food and seeing other tables finishing their food off having arrived after us we asked where the order was. We were told it would be with us in 5 minutes, it came around 10 minutes later and had obviously been rushed together in that time. The burnt crispy cubes were actually Salt&Pepper Squid, a tiny plate for £7.75. The garlic ciabatta was soggy and underdone but the Duck Spring rolls were delicious. I am happy to pay a higher price for 'tapas style' food but the quality has to be there to justify the price. We also found a long blonde hair in the food, the waitresses should have their hair tied back when serving food to ensure this doesn't happen. We did end up eating the food as by this time it was after 2pm and we were all ravenous. I did speak to our waitress regarding all the points above yet she made no effort to rectify or gave much of an apology. Really need to up your game for the summer months on the food side.

Dropped in for lunch this week and enjoyed the 'Cosy Menu' offerings in the very nice dining room overlooking the garden with COVID restrictions addressed well.
One of very few places offering a specials board so we tried some of that too.
Excellent dishes and value served promptly and efficiently by the friendly staff. - thank you everyone.

Just don’t bother going here. The food was awful and that’s once we all had our food. One person was left waiting ages for a salad, they must have popped next door to Waitrose to buy it. Service was non existent, so we had to ask for the basic like sauces. Roast dinners were terrible and didn’t even come with roast potatoes, the beef was tough as boots. The fish and chips was practically no fish and just batter with chips. I would never eat here again. Don’t waste your money trying this place.

Hi EmmaJPW1985,
We're really sorry you didn't didn't receive our best usual standards. We are always very busy and popular for our Sunday Roasts so this must have been a 1 off.
Hopefully you'll stop by again and we can earn the full 5*'s next time!

I visited The Anglesey Arms with my parents during a mini break to Anglesey and we were not disappointed! Had a really lovely meal, there were lots of lovely vegan options I was actually spoiled for choice. Mum and dad had the three cheese pie which they said was really good, we also had the vegan sharer board to start (the waitress told us they are discontinuing this but I'd recommend they keep it - it was SO good!). I had the charred cauliflower steak with onion rings, tomatoes and chips, with a side of veg which was so, so good, all cooked to perfection. Lots of thought and effort has clearly gone into all the dishes and the portions were HUGE - very good value for such nice food. Really nice surroundings and friendly team, too. Highly recommend!

Having been for a meal here many times in the past, I must admit we were disappointed on a recent visit for lunch. We ordered one Cod and Chips and one cod on its own, as my Wife does not have a large appetite.
Fish was lovely, wish the same could be said about the chips. Soggy and tasted as if they had been cooked at least once. When I came to pay the bill, I was told, that he fish on its own was the same price as fish and chips. I tried to explain there should be cost difference, the lady behind the bar, said that they HAD to charge the same price. Utter nonsense. How can that be possibly correct. I have contacted the brewery, but do not expect and early response. Will not be visiting again soon I feel.

I had lunch with a couple of friends today
Very disappointing
It was only a sandwich and chips ,not sure how it could be unappealing.
The skinny chips tasted of old cooking oil
The prawns were tiny more like shrimps with a bitter sauce that tasted like it was from a jar .
It wasn’t expensive so I’ did not complain
I also didn’t want to spoil the occasion
The drinks are also very expensive
Almost 7 pound for a g@t
The staff were lovey and friendly but I shan’t go again

We dined on a thursday, the hotel was fairly busy, nice furnishings, and prompt attention from the staff.
I had the home made cheese & onion pie. with chips & peas, it was delicious, probs the best pie I've ever eaten, would recommend it, my wife had the summer salad, there;s additional extras so she picked the garlic prawns & chunky chips with alioli, the salad was a good mixture but the prawns were tiny and not garlicy enough.
Worth a visit, good selection of beers, polite staff, and the Pie was delicious.

We were staying in the area and we arrived hungry on a Sunday afternoon without a booking and after all the groceries stores had closed. Initially we were advised that they were not able to accommodate us, however after we explained the situation the staff were able to squeeze us in.
The staff were attentive and the food was well cooked, hot and nicely presented. One of the best roast dinner meals I have had in a long time!

We tried to eat here today but ended up sat in our car with a view of the bridge eating a delicious car picnic purchased from Waitrose next door.
Felt less than welcome before we were told in a rather blunt manner that if we wanted to eat in the restaurant with our small dog we had to leave the building and walk through the car park, go up some steps and enter through the conservatory. Our family of five including granny with dodgy knees then trudged around the back only to find the conservatory door locked and no one in sight.
Didn’t feel inclined to walk back to the front to complain about the terrible service.

We had been out all day and not been able to book, arrived about 6.30p.m. and we were told we could sit anywhere in the bar or the young lady would check in the restaurant for a table, there was room for which we were grateful as the bar was busy and noisy!
Order was taken promptly and our starter arrived quite quickly, followed in reasonable time by main courses.
All the food ordered was served hot, well cooked and not overly expensive.
We have eaten here previously and never been disappointed, hence the return visit!
