Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If I lived here, this would be my local. Best beer (and price) in town. Its warm (all the other pubs were warm as well in fairness). Good background music with great locals. This would be one of my happy places. Not in a position...to comment on food. There new young owners, hoping they make it work!More

Popped in to ask directions to my holiday cottage extremely friendly atmosphere and was greeted by a local who came outside with me to point the way to my holiday cottage. Decided to return that evening for a couple of pints and a meal with...my wife, unfortunately was advised that food was no longer available because of the possibility of fire with the thatched roof. Decided to eat elsewhere.More

Popped in for a drink and was going to have food if available. Was told by the landlady there was only sandwiches and rolls available today. We had only popped in for a drink. We had a wonderful couple of hours with some of the...locals. The landlady and the locals gave us a great time, we’re English but we had a wonderful time chatting and enjoying the company. If we visit this part of Wales again this will be the place we’ll visit. Thank you and we hope to return soon,More

Found this pub by chance on my first night in Wales (I hail from Canada and didn't know what to expect). Wandered in and was instantly greeted with smiling faces & a beautiful fire. In a matter of minutes I was sharing pints with the...locals and laughing with them as we swapped stories and local histories. The proprietor, Robin, is a fascinating and kind gentleman whose had the most brilliant adventures; if you're lucky he'll tell you about some. Be sure to ask about his handmade waterfall fountain, it's fantastic! The drinks were terrific and very reasonably priced, and some nights a local chef does pizza in the garden which is positively scrumptious. The pub itself is truly lovely. Thatch roof, a stone floor, a cozy fire, gorgeous wooden beams, and so much warmth and history; you can literally feel that hundreds of years of great nights have taken place there. I had the honour to meet some truly outstanding people, including Wynn, a regular who will have you laughing so hard the tears come but can also recount incredible histories about Wales and its people. All in all, I had one of my best pub nights ever here. It was one of those perfect nights where the right people gather in the right atmosphere and the result is something akin to magic. If you're in the area, I highly suggest stopping in for a pint.More

That's most odd, as we haven't been open since march 20th, and even prior to that, we've were extremely quite as Boris told people to stay away from pubs 2 weeks prior to that, are you sure you have the right pub?

While having a weekend in Kidwelly, we checked trip advisor for opening times , midday to midnight I believe was advertised. My wife and I decided to walk the fair distance to The masons as we liked the look of the food. So after walking...25 minutes in the rain, we got soaked only to find no lights on, no activity and door locked!!! Thank you Masons Arms for a thoroughly wet waste of my time!! I recommend not going there as, you have no idea when this place will be open, as they clearly don't adhere to their own opening times as advertised on Trip Advisor.More

Visited here whilst on a short break in West Wales. The pub is old fashioned (in a good way) - with low ceilings and beams. good selection of beers etc. on offer. Had food here, classic pub food - I had the very tasty chicke...curry half 'n' half. Also dog friendly. Recomended for a visit.More

Myself, husband and dog visited yesterday evening for a meal as we were staying in a holiday cottage just along the road. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed a good plateful! The menu is quite simple and basic but the food served...was lovely and hot, tasty and plentiful. If you want a dog friendly local and a tasty plate of food it's well with a visit.More

Visited Kidwelly Castle and looked for somewhere to have lunch that was dog friendly, The Masons Arms was a short walk and had a friendly welcome from staff and locals. Ordered 2 chicken curry’s with chips and rice and a large portion of lasagna which...came with chips, peas and garlic bread. The home cooked food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Five stars from us and will definitely call in again if we are in the area again.More

I was visiting Kidwelly Castle with a group of friends and looking for a place to get a drink and some food for lunch. The staff at The Mason Arms were very welcoming as we entered and happily let us bring a dog in with...us too. We sat outside in the Beer Garden, where the staff were happy for our dog to have a run around as it was quiet. The menu had a wide choice of dishes, catering for Vegetarians too. The bar had a good selection of local ales and beers as well as lagers, ciders, and other drinks. The food was bought out to us in good time and was of a fantastic quality - I personally had a Chicken Curry with Half and Half which was very tasty! My friend had the steak which came with ‘the proper’ accompaniments instead of just a salad’. Also worth a mention is the quality of the chips! And all very reasonably priced. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and if we ever return to Kidwelly, I would certainly go to The Masons Arms again. Thank you to the staff and chefs who made the meal so pleasurable.More
