The fun and flavour of the lunch was unbelievable! The setting is amazing; the ambiance borders surreal. The dining room (juxta the kitchen) very select. The staff and proprietor chef were friendly, almost 'matey', but not in the least patronising. The whole experience appealed to...More

Can not recommend this place enough, lovely venue and grounds, staff were so friendly and just genuinely buzzing about their jobs, and I thought as a package it was great value. I even enjoyed the 3 hour drive, beats the M1! Onion soup was an...More

Not been since the sad loss of Joan. What a contrast! Gone is the traditional set up - a re-fit and a new chef have produced a trendy, exciting and modern restaurant which, on the evidence of our visit, is without doubt the best in...More

Had dinner here last night and stayed. The room was stunning with an amazing view. We were a little worried that it all seemed a little formal but when we went down to dinner it certainly wasn't. Not only do they have a record deck,...More

We visited for dinner, and chose between two amazing sounding Tasting Menus. We were not disappointed. Each dish was fabulous, and we cannot make up our minds on which dish was best - we loved them all. We loved so many of them - from...More

My wife and I stayed at Ynyshir for one night to celebrate our first wedding anniversary at the end of August. We booked the chefs table experience and couldn't wait to get there, having spent months reading the good reviews and studying the menu. The...More

This is really a review of the restaurant, though I did stay the hotel and will simply say it was very nice, extremely comfortable, and I couldn't say a bad thing about the property. I was expecting classic Welsh food, done up fancy. What I...More

I was almost laughing myself silly as I enjoyed the surprising creations so much! What skill and imagination! The chef is a star, well deserving the Michelin one. Local produce accommodated in exotic ways, many courses but just enough to taste a new experience, not...More

Description
The restaurant at Ynyshir is one of Wales' most unique and contemporary fine dining destinations and holds four AA rosettes as well as its Michelin Star. The focus is on the complete experience, a journey through our landscape and through our seasons. The restaurant serves alternative British tasting menus using the very best of Welsh and British produce. The menus showcase the best of Welsh ingredients following the seasons, such as Welsh Wagyu Beef and Anglesey Onions throughout the year, as well as locally foraged sea herbs from the estuary and greens from the woodland floor and Ynyshir's extensive gardens. During hunting season expect to see wild deer and local duck, grouse and partridge, and in summer Welsh Lamb from the Dyfi valley. Gareth and his team pickle, salt, ferment and preserve fruits, leaves and berries carrying the harvests through the winter and into the spring. Expect to see dishes such as 'Not French Onion Soup', 'Mackerel Sweet & Sour' and Gareths take on a Tiramisu all served alongside a carefully selected wine-list whilst overlooking the Cambrian mountains and Ynyshir's extensive gardens
