Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We all enjoyed a wonderful meal on a very busy Father’s Day afternoon. Lovely hot food, large portions and very tasty (between us we had the pork, beef and sea bass - all were so tasty). Despite being full we all made the most of...the 2 course menu and enjoyed a variety of desserts (baileys cheesecake, banoffee pie, tiramisu, fudge cake - we all thoroughly enjoyed them). Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. 100% recommend and will definitely be back.More

Great Food Excellent Staff Beautiful Views on the terrace of the river and golf course Reasonably priced. We were here five times during the week we had two breakfasts and three evening meals we had the Steak.Gamman.Cod Hunters chicken.lasagne. Cajun chicken burger it was all...cooked to perfection big portions . Only downside we have a dog and they not allowed in the restaurant fair enough but can get a bit cold on terrace if windy . Will definitely be back here on are next holiday thanks to all the staff for looking after us so wellMore

I have been to lakeside many many times and feel I have to rate my lunch this time. When it was time to order my friend and I asked about the soup and sandwich deal and were lead to believe ( we asked the waitress...specifically, as the menu confused us ) you could order soup with a sandwich as a deal which we were lead to believe would come to £6.95 in Total, which the waitress confirmed was the deal. When we came to pay the I had a whopping £10.75 bill for my food. As the waitress had not explained that the sandwich was £8.25 and the soup was £2.50 , apparently that was the deal, not what I’d previously been told. This was all the more infuriating when the sandwich I’d received, was just 2 slices of brown ordinary bread with a very nice filling , a couple of rocket leaves, when the menu specified it was supposed to come with coleslaw and garnish. That sandwich was definitely not worth £8.25 We queried it with the waitress, when receiving the bill, she apologised but that was that, and I was to pay the £10.75, when half of the advertised food was missing. We were very very disappointed and won’t be going back.More

Went for lunch. Were told we couldn’t run a tab as we were sat by a table near the door. We then moved to another table only to be told we had to move to yet another table 1 metre away if we wanted to...run a tab. We duly obliged. Food arrived - fairly average. However the service was appalling. Asked for cutlery and told it was on the bar but the waitress would bring it - which she did. Then asked for sauce only to be told it was on the bar and to get it myself. Unbelievable.More

We ate here on Sat 17th December, for Christmas lunch. We were very impressed with the quality and quantity of the food, also reasonably priced. Service was great and the restaurant was tastefully decorated, creating a lovely ambience. We would certainly recommend and will be...trying your other menus too, in the New Year. Thank you to all the staff.More

She checked the kitchen and shouted from the other side of the bar not doing food appalling service . New to area will never go backMore

Always a pleasure to visit this restaurant, situated in the most lovely spot, with very good efficient and friendly staff. Recent visit was for Sunday lunch on the occasion of wife's birthday. The Sunday lunch was top notch, plenty of it, very tender meat, and...excellent selection of vegetables cooked spit on. Both drinks and food priced very reasonable ( £16.95 for 2 course Sunday lunch) Can't wait to go again. Be warned you have to book a couple of weeks ahead to avoid disappointment, it's very popular.More

I normally only review to big a place up but on this occasion it’s not. Watered down Guinness 14 quid for 7 pieces of scampi. To put this into perspective at the talbot Berriew I can get ten pieces of scampi with chips for 6...quid. Would no recommend I’m afraid. I’m an ex member of the golf club and won’t be coming back for similar reason’s. Expensive with not much satisfaction.More

Average curry missing the poppadom as stated on the menu. Asked waitress who said they don't serve with poppadom. Don't advertise if it's not provided

Visited on Saturday 25 June on the off chance as we had not booked. Beautiful location, and a friendly atmosphere. The girls on duty, behind the bar and the waitresses and accommodated the 4 of us no problem. The menu had something for everyone and...very reasonably priced. Two of us had roast beef with beautifully cooked vegetables, another of our party had honey glazed ham with the perfectly cooked egg and the 4th member had chicken madras. The food was hot, service first class, could not fault it. Will definitely returnMore

My husband and I visited the restaurant for our anniversary. We both really enjoyed our main meal of fish and chips and fried halloumi, salad. We were therefore looking forward to the dessert. I chose crumble and my husband chose sponge pudding. When they arrived...it was obvious that they had been microwaved. The crumble was served in a ramekin, it was too hot to tip out to cool, and too hot to eat directly from the ramekin, the topping was also like sawdust, I therefore left it. .. sometime later the waitress collected the dishes, I complained to her ,she was apologetic, I asked her to convey my comments to the chef. There was no apology from the chef . When it was time to pay I mentioned the over microwaved crumble again. Another lady spoke to me who I assume was in charge, Again no apology, I was told it was hot because it had come out of the oven. (the oven being a microwave oven). and that no one else had complained. She clearly was not customer focused and clearly did not care. Some advice, if a customer severely burns their mouth on food that has been over heated in your restaurant will you care then?More

Went for drinks at 7pm Monday evening with my daughters. Wished we hadn't bothered. It looked closed with most the lights switched off and only 3 men drinking there. The rose wine bottle didnt come with a cooler container. We were told where to sit...on the seating area near to some men talking about golf. The area was cold with no heating turned on. The smell of stale cooking fat was present. The whole place looked tired. Then around 7.45pm we were told it was last orders at the bar. We didnt bother needless to say and headed for the lovely Nags Head pub up the road, where we were greeted with lovely surroundings , a place with character, warmth and atmosphere. We were able to drink until normal closing time and had a great time. Lakeside used to be a lovely place to eat and drink. On this experience I wont be going again.More
