Atmosphere was pleasant, quiet. Staff was friendly. The meal was excellent! Focusing on simple Appalachian foods, it was anything but simple and most delicious. A chocolate tart finished our most enjoyable meal in the Smokies!

Can't say enough about our dinner. Everything was just exquisite. Started with the Blue Point oyster appetizer; large succulent oysters and dressed lightly, so you can enjoy the wonderful oysters for what they are. Wife had the Berkshire pork chop and I had the halibut. Both dishes were wonderfully appointed. Service was top notch. If you're visiting the Quieter Side... More

So I ordered "whole" sea bass. I kind of expected your standard prepared Sea Bass; you know, a thick slice typically pan seared. Well this was completely different and amazing! It was the entire fish and I don't know how they cooked it but it was absolutely amazing. They had put some type of rub on the entire fish and... More

...we stop at the Dancing Bear. You have a choice to dine outside on a terrace, inside or on a side covered porch. The restaurant itself looks like it was plucked from the Adirondacks with dark woods and a large field stone fireplace. It has a full service bar with and excellent bar staff. (A bar is unique in Townsend!)... More

We ate at the Dancing Bear restaurant this past summer and were more than pleased. Excellent food and cocktails. The atmosphere was so lovely and quaint. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the peacefulness of the mountains. Our waitress was so sweet and hospitable. Definitely a different and unique dining experience for the area. A must try!

Wanting nothing more than a hearty Appalachian meal, we were delighted with the sophisticated twist this place puts on local fare. The elk loin was superb. The wine list offered a wide array from which to choose, and the ambiance was artful but still cozy. Excellent!

Amazing food, incredible location, and super attentive wait staff. Everything is locally sourced or grown on site, so it is amazingly fresh. We loved the perfectly seared scallops, rich and earthy mushroom toast, and trout so fresh it almost swam away! She has really inventive sauces that complement the tastes of the food and do not overpower. All in all,... More

I don't know why I waited so long to write this review, maybe it's because the fondness of this memory is hard to put into words. I was on a road trip with my (then) girlfriend, and after a great time visiting friends in Atlanta, I took her to the mountains that I love so much. We stopped for lunch... More

This was such a great family experience. We enjoyed the whole outdoor experience. We had two cabins on property. They are filled with luxury for the rustic atmosphere. We dinned at the Dancing Bear Lodge restaurant for two nights. Both being exceptional. We had a 6pm seating for our Thanksgiving meal. All of the food was great, the portions were... More
