Visited the Yorkshire Moore’s for a weekend during July. The experience and campsite was riddled with problems from arrival which almost certainly would deter us from staying again or recommending the campsite.
Issues:
1: Upon arrival, it was unclear where to check in, upon entering...the cafe the lady (who we can only imagine was the camp manger) was dismissive and unwelcoming, this nature carried on for the rest of our stay, asking questions seemed an inconvenience.
2: We were not informed that all taps were out of service on the campsite.
3: Whilst cars are allowed to be on site for unloading, they are not allowed to stay on site, this was not made clear during booking. Respectfully, this was more of an inconvenience for us due to a small tent.
4: The pitches are small and unclear in terms of spacing, apart from being told you can pitch to the right of your designated post. As a result you are very close to other tents which can consequently be loud- especially not desirable if you have young children.
5: The cafe was expensive for quality (almost £9 for 2 small coffees and a slice of cake) and not something to write home about. The lady at the till also seemed to be dismissive and came across as quite rude, she seemed too busy doing nothing to serve.
Strengths
1: The public footpaths and bridle ways are of excellent access with great views to be seen.
2: The majority of staff were friendly and helpful, maintaining COVID-19 business protocols effectively the whole time.
3: The steak from the shop is very good.
4: Toilet facilities were clean.
Whilst I personally do not recommended the campsite and cafe, the walks are lovely and parking is free.More
