Visited as a family of three. Booked at short notice but we’re really accommodating. Food was lovely, we had the 2 course early dinner offer which I think is great that they do this on a weekend. Service was prompt and attentive, even dealing with...our eight year old son’s request for a straw and taking his order from him. Great value … recommendedMore

Very good attention, friendly staff, food freshly cooked from good menu, small wine list and bottled beer, would recommend this bistro anytime.

Been a few years since we visited but good to see that the standard remains high. Greeted warmly on arrival and offered a choice of two tables, one by the door or one next to the bar, we chose the latter to avoid any unwelcome...drafts on a chilly wet evening. Seated and provided with menus, we chose a bottle of Chilean Sauvignon Blanc whilst we perused the list of dishes available as well as what was presented on the specials board. Meals chosen we opted for duck a'l'orange pate and cheesy peppers to be followed by the swordfish from the specials board and sirloin steak. Orders placed it wasn’t too long a wait before the starters were delivered. The pate was two nice slices coated with a lovely orange gel, accompanied by two slices of toasted bread and side salad. I was told it was very good. My peppers, three in total, were nicely crisp and spicy, which came with a side salad and a small chunk of fresh bread which was used to mop the plate. Both dishes were enjoyed very much. Starter plates removed it wasn’t long to wait before the mains arrived. We could have done with a larger gap in between actually as service was slick and very quick, not that we felt rushed but would have been good to have a larger gap between courses. Anyway, both mains were very well presented. The swordfish came smothered in a rich creamy mushroom sauce, some sliced potatoes and spinach. The sauce was very filling and did outface Sue a little, commenting that maybe it would be better served in a separate jug on the side so that you would be free to have as much or as little as required. The fish was cooked well with skin removed which was a bonus as Sue always finds it a bit of fiddle removing it. My steak was also perfectly cooked and just as requested. Accompanied with chunky chips, a small side salad and a pot of tzatziki. I enjoyed it very much. Complimentary Limoncello rounded off a pleasant evening. Overall then a very enjoyable meal, excellent food and very nice warm and friendly hosts. We didn’t exactly rush with the eating and the whole experience was done in just over an hour. As mentioned, we would have preferred a more leisurely experience but maybe that’s just our taste. Certainly nothing to complain about regarding the quality of fayre provided, it was all excellent and enjoyed very much. Visited 10 Feb 2024More

Went due to the great reviews so we were expecting something special. Sadly, whilst the food was good overall there was no “wow” factor. Standard Mediterranean fayre admittedly at a very sensible “early bird” price. There are many other restaurants of this type in the...area so probably will not rush back.More

We’ve eaten at La Bistro a good 20 or 30 times now, and as the title suggests, it’s our favourite restaurant in Leeds, not just Horsforth. For context, we are a family of four with two young kids, aged 10 and 7 at the time...of writing. Given that background, the things we tend to look for in a restaurant are good food, a nice environment, solid service, consistency and a tendency to cater well for kids (and for me, that’s not simply about having a kids menu; I’ll come back to that later). La Bistro ticks every single box, every single time. First and foremost, the food here is fantastic. For all of us. Personally, I’m a lover of Mediterranean food, though as much as I do try to mix things up, I struggle to get past the meat platter; it’s delicious. The menu leads with a selection of Turkish dishes, everything from hot and cold mezes to Ottoman style seafood, and this is my personal favourite section of the menu. But there’s a lot more on offer beyond that, including a wide choice of pizzas and pastas, steaks, burgers, plus a smattering of Greek favourites like stifado and moussaka. For this reason, it’s always been a go-to whenever we’ve been looking for somewhere for a big family group. We’ve had tables of around 20 adults and children, some fussier than others, and everyone has gone away happy and full. There is something for everyone, even those with certain food intolerances. Kids can choose from a smaller portion of any pizza or pasta (they’re still generous, btw!), or a selection of other options like chicken nuggets. One final word on the food, the early bird deal (which runs from Sunday to Friday until 5pm, I think!), offers two courses for something like £19 is fantastic value. Whilst I’m partial to a calamari starter, my wife loves the desserts! There’s a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. From a personal point of view, I prefer a draft beer as opposed to bottled, however the 500ml bottles of “Efes Draft” are the next best thing. The restaurant itself is modest in size and has a modern, cozy feel. Though the restaurant isn’t massive, there’s ample space between tables, and you don’t feel like you are a top of one another. It’s a nice, relaxing place to be, even when the place is busy. As good as the food is (and it truly is brilliant), what makes this place is the staff. To a person, they are absolutely fantastic. Welcoming, friendly, helpful and attentive. Again, no matter how busy it is. Our young daughter gets on like a house on fire with the owner, who is brilliant with both of our kids. Some time ago, my daughter drew a little sketch of him while at the table; to this day, that picture remains pinned on the wall at the back of the restaurant. Just a lovely touch, that delights our little girl every time we go back. Whenever the kids’ birthdays come around, La Bistro is always the place they ask to go. Not TGIs, not Nando’s, not Five Guys. That in itself speaks volumes, for me. A visit to La Bistro is like a warm hug from family. Every single time, bar none, we’ve walked away having thoroughly enjoyed not just the food, but the whole experience. It is consistently excellent. It’s what eating out as a family should be all about.More

Easily worth five stars, lovely welcome, great atmosphere, excellent service and delicious food. The menu is very varied with a Mediterranean theme, nice to have something different to choose from. We were a party of four, all ordered different starters and mains and all were...excellent. Our starters were deep fried calamari, pan fried gamberoni, meat balls in tomato sauce and cheesy pizza bread, all very tasty. For mains we had chicken with aubergine and goats cheese in a tomato sauce, chicken skewers with dips and sea bass fillets stuffed with spinach and feta, all excellent. Prices are reasonable as are their wines, we had a Chilean Sauvignon which was good quality. Would definitely recommend a visit, they made us feel very welcome and we will definitely return.More

One of our favourite restaurants and often chosen for a family celebration. Held our daughter’s baby shower here…….lunch for a large group. Wonderful service and attention. Delicious food as usual. Allowed us to put up decorations and have a table set aside for presents and...cakes. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Thank you so much to all the staff.More

Whatever time you visit, the value is in the early bird menu… two courses for £18.95 all day Sunday to Thursday… good selection of dishes from starters to mains. There is a daily specials board too… I!recommend having the mussels starter and la bistro mixed...meat platter… there’s a supplement for certain main dishes due to the cost but when you consider the mussels are £8.95…. Paying a £2 supplement isn’t too bad especially when the mixed meat platter is £19.95 a la carte… great atmosphere and good service, I’d advise you to book as it is a busy restaurant which doesn’t surprise swing as the food and service is fab.. thumbs up 👍More

We visited as a bit of an impromptu date night, really glad I called up a few hours before to get a table because this place gets busy - and rightly so. The manger was absolutely lovely, got us sat at our table straight away....I had a lovely glass of wine, recommend the Zinfandel. We got our 2 course on the Sunday - Thursday deal. I had halloumi to start which was perfectly cooked. I then highly recommend the salmon for mains, the sauce that it came in was to die for. All the food was of a fantastic quality, the restaurant was clean and the staff were very attentive. I will definitely be returning here, a new favourite!More
