Second time here and the pizza is very good. My friend thinks the deep dish Ben pizza is great. I had the Gorgonzola and pesto which was very yummy. Never had the pasta.

Very good pizza this place offers. Beware, their sizes are really big. You are sure to be full when you leave. A bit rugged feel to the place.

We're local, coming here for years, nowadays with kids, a frequent part of any museum-district outing. Wonderful quaint, funky-hippie atmosphere, comfortable outdoor patio seating available. Upstairs seating for large parties. Craft beers on tap. Savory unique deep-dish pizzas with fresh vegetables (or regular crust if you want). If you love vegetables but want some meat, order the veggie and add... More

I used to eat at this place when I was in college 25 years ago. I came back to try it out after that many years and it is even better. We ordered the Chicago style pizza and garlic bread with cheese. We got there at 5:00 because this place fills up quick. When we left at 7:00 there was... More

We liked Star Pizza, so we thought we'd give it another try. It was good, but not as good as the first time. My wife noticed that, and I had the same impression. The Garlic Bread and cheese was excellent as an appetizer. The Starburst pizza good, but I didn't find it as great. The price is on the high... More

Was in the area - so stopped for lunch. This is in a very rough section of town. It is a run-down restaurant. It was very busy. The waitress was very nice and efficient. The salad was good. The pizza crust tasted like cardboard. Sorry to say that, but it's the truth. Being from the northeast, I may just have... More

The friendly and efficient staff at this long-time staple of the South Shepherd restaurant scene is the best part of the dining experience. But based on our recent lunch experience, the food comes in at average. The Caesar salad was crisp and fresh, but dry with too little dressing. The marinara sauce with the spaghetti was abundant, slightly sweet but... More

We met our friends at Star Pizza Saturday. We drove in from Katy, and it was well worth the drive. I have heard good things about Star Pizza, and it lived up to the hype. We ordered a medium Starburst pizza. The Starbust has ground beef, Italian sausage, pepperoni, onions, mushrooms and green pepper. It was very good. The pizza... More

I'm not sure if the slack pace is normal for this restaurant or if perhaps people did not show up for their shift but it was painful to be there. The hostess looked and behaved like she hated her job and the waiter looked overwhelmed with tables. It took us over over an hour to get our food. The pizza... More

Description
Established in 1976 In the summer of 1976, Henry "Hank" Zwirek and his buddy, Ed, both native Chicagoans, grew tired of living in the windy city and relocated to Houston. Hank realized the burgeoning city lacked high quality pizza and delivery service (which was a norm in Chicago). Acting on Hank's instincts, the two purchased a quaint two-story house on Norfolk and in October of 1976, a Star (pizza) was born.Business continued to thrive and Hank was eager to expand. In the summer of 1988 a second Star was born, affectionately named Star 2. The offspring of the original was located at 140 S. Heights Blvd. in the building that's now home to Chatter's.The original Star is still located in the house on Norfolk, and continues to offer the same homely atmosphere as it did in 1976. To this day the Zwirek family owns and operates both locations and thanks their loyal Star Pizzanites for their support throughout the years.
