One of the specials was whole catfish and 6 shrimp. This is normally sold fried but I asked for grilled shrimp which I received. Both the catfish and shrimp were excellent and served piping hot. This was about a 35 minute walk from MD Anderson Mays Clinic. I highly recommend this place. Service was good and fast.

Captain Benny's Seafood is a must if you're in the Houston area. Located very close to the heart of the medical center you will not find seafood as fresh and delicious as you will here! I found myself wondering if the fish/shrimp just came off the boat. It was that good! The seafood gumbo was also very delicious but probably... More

If I have to go to the Dr., I reward myself with oysters on the half shell and gumbo. The guy shucking the oysters and working the bar is El Jefe. Petfect. Gumbo is pretty darn good and the fried entrees are great. Don't miss the boat!

I've wanted to return to Captain Benny's since living in Houston years ago so was pretty excited to see that they are still around. Freshly shucked oysters were fresh and large, beer cold, service pretty good. Menu large!

Love this place best gumbo in town, freshest shrimp lightly battered and fried to perfection. And if you prefer they offer grilled, blackened or boiled and all are delicious. Oyster's are always skucked in front of you so don't get any fresher than that.

Another one of those small places that is uninspiring looking from the outside but a gem inside. Small old counter type restaurant with some bar tables and a few booths. It is always packed and the seafood is fresh and well prepared. You can choose from broiled or fried for most dishes. Service was friendly and efficient. I had the... More

Friendly staff, good fried shrimp, oysters, cole slaw and hush puppies. The building is set back from the street, which made it difficult to find at night. Nothing was exceptional.

Cooked oysters are incredible, I'm sure I would have loved them raw, didn't care to try. The catfish and other fried food is fine if you like that sort of thing.

It is not the nicest environment in this restaurant shaped like a ship, I guess it is already a few years old and you can see it. But the oysters for a $1 a piece on a halfshell where outstanding. Also the gumbo was excellent, the price for food is very affordable and the local beer at happy hour is... More
