Great views, welcoming service, but so-so menu. Mostly fried choices which is ok, but only the plate ends up looking brown.

Want a good local restaurant to eat at? The Lakehouse is it! Went on the recommendation of a Kerrville local and glad we did. Home style cooking, larger than normal portions (two can share!), absolutely delicious, and the staff were welcoming. Plan to visit this restaurant and sit and view the Guadalupe River as you enjoy the food. Recommend the... More

The service was good. Their claim of the best catfish in the area was a little off the mark to my taste. I felt it was very bland tasting.

They have the best fried catfish in town. I love to go on Sunday Lunch because the special is fried chicken. The reason I love it is because it reminds me of Sunday dinner at Grandma's house. Hand-battered and deep fried chicken. You get a drum-stick, a breast, and a wing with your choice of sides and a drink. My... More

Our hotel recommended this place, but am not sure why. It is in a nice setting and is right on the river. Their specialty is fish and seafood. I ordered the catfish/shrimp/shrimp combo platter and it was a large amount of food. It was all fried and was very greasy and not all that tasty. The catfish was undercooked, which... More

Very much of a family-type eatery. The norm would be how we would categorize the menu. But if you need a good chat, relaxing views, a wall of windows looking onto the well-groomed yard down to the Guadalupe river...the Lakehouse is perfect!!

Everything you would expect at the "fried catfish" place. Portions were good. Catfish was fried perfect. Sides were excellent. American catfish are served here, none of that out of country, raised in crap fish farm stuff here. Wife doesn't like seafood so she had the chicken fried steak. No complaints from her. Quite a few options other than fish on... More

Actually I dont. But lakehouse, catfish, clams, shrimp plus coleslaw are fantastic once a year. 36.00 for 2 refillable meals. Great staff, nice to watch river. Secret. Go 4-6 pm not crowded normally. Otherwise, expect nasty tourist crowd.

I've been coming to the Lakehouse since I moved to Kerrville in 2001. I remember when it was Catfish King and the food was very good. When it changed hands, the food and the staff, for the most part, stayed the same. This isn't a fancy place but it's clean, the service and food are very good. I usually order... More
