Loved the salad bar with chilled pewter plates and condiments served at the table for baked potatoes - so retro but lots of fun. Don't miss the beef filet with chimichurri sauce.

This restaurant is on the Plaza next to La Posada Hotel. There is bar, several booths and a couple tables downstairs that are comfortable and quiet. Upstairs is the main restaurant. Casual dress is fine and the food quality was top notch. We ordered several types of steaks. All were cooked perfectly and of good quality. Service was attentive but... More

We were staying at La Posada, the hotel in which The Tack Room is located. Several people had recommended we eat at The Tack Room. I'm very glad we did! My husband had the Falstaff Skillet: Bacon-wrapped tenderloin with sauteed mushrooms and onions. I had the Tack Room Churrasco: Butterflied tenderloin grilled with chimichurri salsa. Both came with huge baked... More

Excellent service. Fine dining at its best. At last Newmarket has a venue with credibility as a top notch restaurant. The staff are really on the money. It's great to be served with a smile thought. They all enjoy their job and are so proud of the product. I seriously recommend the tack room with confidence.

Beautiful older, historic landmark. Fantistic staff to ensure you are completely satisfied. Good food, just wished the steaks were grilled, at least on gad grills instead of flat top. Place typically used to for marriage proposals and anniversary celebrations.

The restaurant is run down, the waiters are tired and don't care the food is average and expensive, nothing stands out, their meats lack taste and are expensive.

Was looking for a good place to eat while in town on business. I promise you will not be disappointed! Great service, excellent food and the lobster bisque is perhaps one if the best.

Upstairs for dinner. Reminds me of places we visited as a child. Respectful waiters, steak, baked potato, salad bar. Generous wine pours. Nice.

This is an intimate steakhouse, part of the La Posada Hotel, but across the street. It has a wonderful history (as does the hotel) and everything we had, from soups to steaks, was very, very, delicious. The lobster bisque my husband had was probably the best I've ever had. Our rib eyes were perfectly cooked and finished on the grill,... More

"The Best Little Steakhouse in South Texas since 1982!"

The Tack Room is Laredo's original bar and grill! Located next to La Posada Hotel in downtown Laredo, The Tack Room offers fine dining in a historic and charming atmosphere.

History of The Tack Room:
The Tack Room is recognized by the National Registry of Historic Buildings as being the very first telephone exchange for Laredo and Nuevo Laredo dating back to 1860.

The building later housed one of Laredo's pioneer families, the Bruni family, and later a Customs agency when acquired by La Posada. The building was converted to a New Orleans style downstairs piano bar featuring the racing decor and theme. A copper topped bar backed up with stained glass racing back-bar downstairs with the upstairs serving diners in one of the most elaborate open show-grills in the country. All cooking is done in intimate surroundings from a beautifully designed copper and brass grill in the center of the room. The upstairs portion again features the racing theme and decor. Outside this room is a cocktail gallery overlooking San Agustin Plaza and the west patio of the complex, making for a complete historic experience.
