Yes, people know TX has a sausage like no where else. I was shocked that this place in small town of Luling had the most amazing sausage in the planet. Yes, i hurt my self eating brisket and it's the true TX BBQ on paper presentation. They do offer a plastic fork... but the sausage... I would drive from Austin... More

We had the pork ribs, brisket and sausage, plus beans and potato salad. It was a heavy lunch, but very good. My favorite was the pork ribs -- cooked till the meat falls off the bones, juicy and fine. My husband liked the brisket best as it was not as greasy as the pork ribs. Neither of us liked the... More

Good place for TX style BBQ or brisket. Fast and friendly service with value pricing. We did take out with sides back to our campground.

I have eaten BBQ at City Market a bunch of times. In fact, it is hard for me to go through Luling without stopping. Food is served on butcher paper. BBQ sauce is a favorite. We love the brisket and find the sausage okay. Ribs were tough the last time we tried so we stick to the brisket which you... More

We stopped here on a recent trip to Texas, and I did think the food was above average (which is saying a lot for BBQ b/c Texas sets such a high bar). However, we ate at Coopers in Llano later in the week, and the food there completely outshined anything offered at City Market. Smitty's in Lockhart is also a... More

On an outing with a large group, we stopped at this iconic restaurant for lunch. You have to visit the pit to get your meat and then go to the counter for your sides and drinks. It only took a few minutes for 20 of us to go through the lines. The brisket was tender and tasty and the sausage... More

This is a wonderful restaurant for brisket, sausage, BBQ, and potatoe salad. The tea is good and unsweet to add sugar. The food is fresh and cooked so tender that meat falls off bone. I love the brisket and ribs but sausage also. They have sweet pickles and cauliflower also. Prices range from 9.99 to 12.99 per pound but worth... More

My mate and I visited City Market last Friday for an inaugural visit. NOTE: We read Texas Monthly's less than stellar review which informed readers that CM uses (gasp) a gas-fired smoker instead of wood on weekends because of the heavy traffic. Knowing this, we decided to make the pilgrimage during a weekday. I have been eating barbecue for over... More

City Market, Luling Rocks! I am a BBQ aficionado.I have written about it. I have sampled all of the North American styles--Chicago, Memphis, Kansas City, Virginia, Oklahoma, North Carolina, South Carolina, Caribbean, and Texas (with at least four different styles of Central Texas, Eastern Texas, Northern Texas, and Southern Texas), and others.. And, I have sampled many BBQ styles from... More

This is excellent BBQ, no doubt! The brisket is beautifully cooked, with the required smoke ring. The sausage is also delicious. My husband likes their ribs. We used to have a disagreement as I had always preferred Black's, in Lockhart, Texas. The last time we had lunch @ Black's, it was a huge disappointment. We went through the line, ordered... More
