This is a wonderful restaurant for brisket, sausage, BBQ, and potatoe salad. The tea is good and unsweet to add sugar. The food is fresh and cooked so tender that meat falls off bone. I love the brisket and ribs but sausage also. They have sweet pickles and cauliflower also. Prices range from 9.99 to 12.99 per pound but worth... More

My mate and I visited City Market last Friday for an inaugural visit. NOTE: We read Texas Monthly's less than stellar review which informed readers that CM uses (gasp) a gas-fired smoker instead of wood on weekends because of the heavy traffic. Knowing this, we decided to make the pilgrimage during a weekday. I have been eating barbecue for over... More

City Market, Luling Rocks! I am a BBQ aficionado.I have written about it. I have sampled all of the North American styles--Chicago, Memphis, Kansas City, Virginia, Oklahoma, North Carolina, South Carolina, Caribbean, and Texas (with at least four different styles of Central Texas, Eastern Texas, Northern Texas, and Southern Texas), and others.. And, I have sampled many BBQ styles from... More

This is excellent BBQ, no doubt! The brisket is beautifully cooked, with the required smoke ring. The sausage is also delicious. My husband likes their ribs. We used to have a disagreement as I had always preferred Black's, in Lockhart, Texas. The last time we had lunch @ Black's, it was a huge disappointment. We went through the line, ordered... More

I have never been disappointed here. Everything is the Bomb. The sausage and BBQ sauce are some of my favorites.

When I was new to the area, I tried to eat here at least 3 times a week for the first several years. I have since cut back to maybe three or four times a month. Never gets old. Always great ribs, brisket, and their homemade sausage. And it's all perfectly complemented by their incredible secret recipe sauce.

You will remember it, because you will carry the smell of BBQ with you. The brisket and sausage were excellent. Many small towns in Texas are named City Market and they usually sell BBQ - really good BBQ. I would put this City Market right at the top of the list. The delivery system differs from place to place, but... More

You know what you're going to get in a place like Luling TX- down home cooking. Pull off the hiway at Buc-res, head under the hiway and it's about 5 miles to BBQ heaven. This is serious BBQ without any frills or pretense. 4 things on the menu- brisket, ribs, hot sausage, cold sausage. If you want a pickle, onion,... More

Between Houston and San Antonio Texas is the old west railroad town of Luling and on the old railroad main street is City Market. There has been a few updates in the last century but nothing that makes you feel like you are in this century. The smoker hits you with one of the best smells on the planet. Walk... More

It is fightin' words in Texas, but City Market has always had the best barbecue in the whole State! Meat is incredibly tender, hot links are like no other, and everything has the right amount grease. Hey, atmosphere -- it is a Texas barbecue place! Brown paper, onions, white bread and Big Red. What more do you want! And, they... More
