My wife and I had lunch with several other friends this past weekend and the food was really good but not great. The line to get in was really long. Service was great though. Worth checking out while in town.

It was 30-40 minute wait. 50 people in line. But they are a well oiled machine. We set at the counter and watched how the machine ran. One person did nothing but put pricing, tax, and totals on ALL the tickets. Another arranged the plates...More

If you like homestyle cooking - this is a good stop. The chicken-fried steak was tasty and a very nice salad is offered as one of the sides. Fried okra was very good. Then there was the pie!!! Mile-high meringue - lemon and chocolate pies...More

Boiled ribs, over cooked carrots, weird tasting spinach, average mashed potatoes, awful biscuits, and a so-so apple pie. No reason to go back. I have no idea why it is popular.

The Bluebonnet has a long and storied history, having served generations of Texans and celebrities as well. Their pies are well known, and their chicken fried steak/chicken fried chicken are among the best. Those plates come with 3 sides, and there are plenty to choose...More

Food was ok at best. I know they were busy but it could have been better. Biscuits and toast both dry, scrambled eggs were greasy, bacon was like shoe leather.... Hopefully they were just having a bad day but my visit wasn't good.

We thought that with all the hype that the pie happy hour was a bid deal. We didn't think so - it was like the drink (tea & water) that we had with the meal were none free and you coule get a piece of...More

Breakfast was delicious. Extremely large portions. The pies looked amazing - and so many varieties. They must be good because lots of people had pie after breakfast. Service was excellent and our waitress was friendly. Good local flavor!

I live here in town and have tried the BB a few times just to give it a chance to live up to the hype. The wait is often long, the waitresses too hurried to give great service, and the food is bland. I have...More

There are several parking spaces on the side street of Blue Bonnet's parking lot (that we're open at the time of our visit). we also had a 28 ft in-closed car hauler that we were pulling at time of our visit.

Did not see any gluten free options. Also, if you have a nut allergy- don’t eat pie. They cut pecan pie with the same utensils as chocolate, etc.

Description
Since 1929, Blue Bonnet Cafe has been the place to see your neighbor or friends, catch up on what is happening around town, or stop when you're just passing through. Good food and friendly greetings are what we're all about. In fact, they've made us world famous. Our menu has something for everyone, from salads and sandwiches to chicken-fried steak and pot roast. We also serve breakfast all day and make our soups from scratch every day. Stop in and enjoy all your favorites. Oh, and don't forget to save room for a piece of one of our legendary pies.
