We visited at the end of September and it felt like the town was ready to hibernate after a hectic summer. Most of the restaurants were shut, or empty. There were some locals in this place so we chose it, but it took an age to get a menu, then drinks, then order etc. We chose the set menu which... More

I enjoyed salmorejo córdobes, rabo de toro (oxtail) with mushrooms, cheese tarta, and coffee. The food was excellent. The service was friendly and good. I would go back.

Great menu and reasonable price! The Ox steak and bacalao are great! Staff is very friendly and also it's in a good location, very close to the Monastery of El Escorial

This place is near the Escorbial de San Lorenzo. The staff there didn't know much English, but we were able to get it right. The food was pretty good and the waitress's sense of humor helped. Would recommend.

On our visit a polite young man handed us a flyer for this restaurant steps from the entrance to El Escorial. After touring the Monastery it was raining and it was already 4pm. We wanted a late lunch and decided to try this place. We were pleasantly surprised that even though the lunch special time had passed the young man... More

Nothing is a problem at the Taberna del Viajero - the food is exceptional and great value for money, a good selection of wines and cold beer on tap. The staff go out of their way to ensure your enjoyment of time spent with them is remembered. Tell Alvaro that you read this review and he will give you a... More

The quality of the food was excellent and the price was very good. It's closely located to the Monastery in case you want to visit before or afterwards. Service could be improved: waiting times for ordering and paying were too high; however, the staff was warm and well educated.

Excellent service, very good food, and good value for money. Relaxed, friendly atmosphere and very helpful staff. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Better than some that are in the town.

My husband and I went to visit the Royal Seat of El Escorial (historical residence of the King of Spain) and we were starved after hours of walking. Just one block from the castle, we could not have found a better place to rest our bodies and fill out tummies ! Food, service and ambience were great. We tried the... More
