We went in December on a really wet day was like being in Betys e coed North Wales. However once you go inside its a lovely restaurant not as touristy as the others we found in San Lorenzo. Warmth with table cloths, linen serviettes excellent menu good food and good wines with half bottles available. Excellent service, does get busy... More

I was in el Escorial last summer for a month, and passed by this restaurant every day, but couldn't get anyone to go with me. I am back in el Escorial, and my friend and I had dinner at Cava Alta on a Wednesday night. The place is charming, very tastefully decorated. We had a helpful, patient server, who recommened... Wonderful place, nice atmosphere, good service and tasty food. The portions are big, that was nice, so you can share a lot of things, especially to try several main dishes. Ask what they have especially for the day of visit, some nice plates are out of menu

We stopped at this restaurant after touring the monastery. The staff was very patient with our large group of Americans, some of whom had somewhat odd dietary preferences. And the food was good. I'd return.

We walked by this place and noticed it was different from other more "transactional" restaurants. This looked a lot more cozy. Then we saw locals eating inside and we decided to try it. We only had small dishes, sharing many through our group, and I must say it was marvelous. Service was friendly and the ambience was great. They deserve... More

As someone who lives in San Lorenzo de el Escorial, whenever friends visiting want to try the real Sierra de Madrid/Castillian cuisine, I invariably take them here. They recently moved to a new, more spacious place, just a few metres away from the old one, but they retain all of the good qualities they used to have. Great food (wonderful... More

We had a terrific lunch here after visiting El Escorial. The menu del dia was a bargain, with 3 courses, wine, and bread. The service was great and they were very accommodating with our vegetarian daughter. They made a delicious mixed roast vegetable plate for her. The lunch started with a delicious amuse bouche of potato omelet. We had the... More

It is rare now a days to find a restaurant with food this good near such a popular tourist landmark under 30€ per person. Went there on a Saturday and they had a great "menu of the day" for around 17€. The service was very good and the ambiance of the place was quite cozy. I would definitely return to... More
