We booked dinner here on friends recommendation which was probably just as well as they were very busy. The staff, bar one who was the joker, were friendly but aloof and we never had any conversation with them. There is a fixed £80 menu with wines to accompany it for £50 per person. The food was excellent and the presentation was beautiful but a couple of comments. My partner’s monk fish was overcooked and consequently rubbery in texture and the aged Vatten beef was chewy even for rump. The staff asked if we had enjoyed each course and we told them this which they noted without comment and departed. They did offer additional drinks of our choice at the end of the meal which we declined but we felt more could have been said at the time. The food generally was great, there was a relaxed atmosphere and we might have enjoyed it more had it not been for the camera action from an American couple who photographed every plate put in front of her. We left slightly hungry and decided that we had enjoyed dinner more the night before at Scorrybreac.

Thank you very much for taking dinner with us. We appreciate your kind and constructive comments about your experience at the Lodge .
Although we are pleased that you felt your dinner was excellent and beautifully presented we can see that your expectations were not fully met and that we fell a little short of the 5 star service we aim to provide for all our guests. Your feedback will enable us to improve our service for future guests.
We hope to have the oportunity to welcome you to the Lodge again at some point in the future.

Our first dinner out after lockdown and back to one of our favorite restaurants. We were treated to course after course of the most amazing, delicious, local beautifully cooked produce we could ever wish for. Despite all the mandatory precautions of staff wearing masks and reduced seating, the restaurant has still maintained its cosy and intimate atmosphere. The staff, as ever, were friendly, professional and mindful of the current climate, keeping an appropriate distance whilst still ensuring everything was to our liking. Calum is an extremely gifted chef, an absolute master of flavour and presentation. He and his team work so hard to provide the best and most memorable experience, and we look forward to many more amazing evenings at the Lodge.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. It's always great to welcome back regular guests and we're really pleased that you enjoyed the new menu. As you are aware, we have adopted a range of measures to reduce the risk of Covid 19 transmission. It's great to learn that these have not affected your enjoyment of the Lodge experience. We look forward to seeing you both again very soon.

My husband booked the meal and I knew nothing about where we were going. We arrived with the family, immediately we were looked after, drinks and nibbles arriving in short order.
I could write a long review, noting every little perfect detail but I think I’m going to go for a note rather than a novel!
Every single detail was terrific. Every one of the tasting menu courses were delicious and perfect, every drink was downed with gusto, all while the service was just enough to feel cared for and not too much to feel suffocated!
We have never had a tasting menu where every course was eaten by all 7 of us, every course was finished and every course was thoroughly enjoyed!
To top it all the impressive chef popped in to say hello, what a total star!
Thank you so very much for having us. We will be back.

If ever you ever come to the Isle of Skye do not be mislead into thinking that the main attraction is the divinely beautiful landscape. Equally spectacular is the dining experience that you will have at the family-owned fantastic newcomer, the Edinbane Lodge Restaurant, near Portree. John greeted us so very warmly upon our arrival. Neil was our host extraordinaire who happily and expertly explained each of our selections to us as he delivered them with the signature white gloves of fine dining, always so warmly pointing to the local sourcing and beauty in the locally foraged ingredients. Each and every single bite of our extraordinary lunch was transcendental, even the assorted breads were executed superbly! Our hats are off to the supremely talented and innovative chef (a young local!) who is the creator of this visionary and stellar menu, and to his exquisite culinary team, for giving us perhaps the best lunch we have ever had (we are seasoned international travelers). Dinner we’re sure would be that much more epic. Do not miss this truly exceptional food and team!
Cheers, Renee and Michael

Thank you Renee & Michael for braving the spectacularly wet, wild and windy weather on Skye today to take lunch with us, as Storm Ciara began to flex her strength across the West coast. It was our great pleasure to serve you and everyone at the Lodge is delighted that you enjoyed the experience.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful review and for recommendation the Lodge to future guests. It is really appreciated. Have a great trip home and come back to join us for dinner soon, where a warm welcome awaits.

From the moment we were welcomed so warmly to this lovely place we felt very much at home and in the best of hands. The Covid arrangements were clear and thorough and handled very well. We stayed overnight and our room (room four) was beautiful. We enjoyed having a cosy sitting room as well as the luxurious bathroom with roll-top bath and lovely scented toiletries.
Dinner was quite simply one of the best of our lives. Each course of the tasting menu brought delicious and sometimes astonishing flavours. Each was presented beautifully and explained with great good humour from behind the masks! What made the meal particularly special was how Calum the chef has built each of these courses to be rooted in the Island of Skye, whether through local catches or foraged herbs. A special mention for the final course, Edinbane meadowsweet parfait with blackcurrant leaf and fruit, for which I have run out of superlatives!
We were pleased to have chosen to take the wine flight which matched and augmented each course beautifully.
After dinner we walked just along the road and caught a beautiful sunset.
Breakfast continued the same standards of friendly service and tastiness, including very fine porridge and black pudding with poached eggs. A wonderful and very special stay, made relaxed and memorable by the delightful staff.

Wow, what a comprehensive review. We particulalrly appreciate your comments about the Covid-19 arrangements. The safety of our guests is extremely important to us and its great to learn that you felt it was thorough and handled well. We are particularly pleased to see that staff smiles were detected despite the obligatory masks.
The chefs will be delighted to read that this was one of the best meals of your lives and the front of house staff will be so pleased that their efforts helped to make this a relaxing and memorable stay for you. The sunsets at Edinbane can be quite stunning and makes for a beautiful end to the day. Thank you for your kind comments about the rooms and the breakfast. We hope they set you up for a wonderful and safe trip home. Come back and see us soon.

Romantic dinner on a cold winter’s night did not disappoint. Their tasting menu (£90 - not cheap but genuinely good value) is absolutely superb, with outstanding dishes including barbecued squid with romesco and roast Mallard breast with winter squash - as fine as you’ll taste anywhere in Scotland and better than some Michelin-starred outfits in London. It’s worth a visit for the opening nibbles of crispy chicken skin and seaweed crackers alone. The rooms are also large modern and comfortable with chef patron Calum Montgomery also delivering a cracking breakfast. Best go now before it gets famous and booked months ahead. A real find.

Hello Redclive and thank you for your kind review.
It is nice to hear you enjoyed our Tasting Menu this month - the crispy chicken skin is always a great way to start the meal with one of our own gins.
Hopefully we can welcome you to Edinbane Lodge again.
Best wishes,
John

We have been fortunate enough to have both lunch and dinner at Edinbane on a number of occasions. This was the first time we have stayed however.
We were welcomed warmly and settled into our room for a couple of hours before dinner which was excellent from start to finish. The food, wine and service especially were all first class.
It is so encouraging to see staff who are knowledgeable, enthusiastic and passionate about what they do.
After a very comfortable night's sleep, we had breakfast. Unsurprisingly the food was of the highest quality and nicely rounded off an indulgent culinary couple of days!
Despite the covid restrictions imposed upon establishments John, Calum and the team have done an excellent job in minimising any disruption to the atmosphere and quality of service. Looking forward to going back.

We have dined at Edinbane Lodge several times now and we are never disappointed- in fact, we’re always overwhelmingly impressed! We can not recommend this place enough! The entire experience, as it is an experience, not just dinner, from start to finish is wonderful!
The staff are amazing, so friendly, and impeccably turned out. The drinks and canapés at the bar set you up for a gastronomic delight. I’d recommend the Elderflower Berry Sour cocktail, it’s delicious. As for the main event, the menus are so well thought out, using the best of local produce, very little food miles at all, and it’s presentation is always exquisite. On our visit the Edinbane lamb dish was a winner for me, closely followed by the apple crumble, and nothing is quite as it sounds - need to see and taste to believe! Quite simply, go and have dinner here, you will love it!

It was my 16th birthday and we had been staying at Edinbane and so I wanted to try this restaurant as I had never done a taster menu before. It wasn’t cheap at £80 a head but for a special meal out or holiday dinner it was perfect. We were served 11 courses and there was not one course which I didn’t like. They even did me a special extra birthday pudding extra and the waiters all sang happy birthday!
The waiters were all kind and friendly and one even made me a special mocktail when I enquired about the possibility - it was a truly magical meal and something I will never ever forget. Well worth the price and definitely one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in anywhere and deserves to have a Michelin Star in my opinion. One of the highlights of my holiday so far and I would thoroughly recommend going there.
I also recommend trying the elderflower fizz drink - it was absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you Edinbane Lodge!

Edinbane Lodge has an absolutely fantastic restaurant.
Dinner has a 10 course tasting menu at £90 with an optional wine pairing at £65.
We thought the food was superb, enjoying every one of the courses and were impressed with how they coped with dietary requirements.
The wine pairing was less impressive. The sommelier’s presentation was superb but I thought the quality and quantity of wine was less than expected.
The wine list was excellent and I would probably just stick with that next time.
All staff were very friendly and professional

Edinbane was recommended by our good friend Aeneas O’Hara of independent Scottish travel experts
“ Away from the Ordinary”
There could not be a more apt title for any review, of any establishment. Firstly a quick resume of our trip
Drive from Glasgow to Fort William in some of the worst rain I’ve ever seen. Night stop and on to Skye via the bridge for our first visit to the Isle. After a day spent touring around soaking in fabulous views we arrived at The Lodge around 6pm to be welcomed by some of the most genuinely nice, invested, enthusiastic staff I’ve ever had the pleasure meeting.
The surroundings are a delight, no jaw dropping views over cliffs, Glen’s and bays, there a short drive away. Simply the effortless style that immediately makes you relax, and look forward to dinner.
In the current COVID norm even the additional measures put in place for everyone’s safety are handled with calm professionalism and a smile behind the mask!
After a dozen apologies at least for being unable to help with our luggage we were shown to our family room, room No 4 of only four. Delightful, very comfortable. My wife indulged in a pew dinner bath in the roll top tub. My daughter locked herself away in her own small room and played whatever game 11 year olds play on her device. On what she said was the most comfortable bed she’s ever lay on, so much so she demanded John, front of house, tell her where she could get one. John was an ever present source of information and relaxed chat throughout our very short stay, all from behind what I’m sure is a very uncomfortable mask.
We were informed that our dinner reservation for 8.30 could be moved forward to a time of our liking, but with no pressure to do so. The bath, bed and aperitifs in our room ensured we arrived only just before our scheduled time
The tasting menu is so good words cannot do it justice, you’ll simply have to try it, though it evolves through the season with the local produce available.
My daughter accepted the offer of a simple tomato pasta
Wine list is not huge but has plenty of variety. You can also choose to match wine with each course for an additional charge chosen by the house.
The service from Neil and his colleagues, apologies to both for not remembering your names, was professional, informative on each course and charming.
The coffee and tea were great, and the Talisker ensured my memory of returning to our room is somewhat vague.
You’ll be getting the message that the food is superb, and I haven’t mentioned Calum’s special breakfast yet!!
You just have to go. It’s not cheap, but it is worth every penny. We will be back. Stayed 5/6th August 20
Than you to Calum, John, Neil and everyone else for the introduction to Skye.

Firstly we'd like to thank Aeneas O Hara and Scottish travel experts, Away From the Ordinary, for recommending us to you, we really appreciate it. We are so pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us at the Lodge. Although we have just 4 rooms, the current Covid restrictions still present some challenges on our staff but, it's nice to read that these safety measures didn't detract from the enjoyment of your stay with us.
We're delighted to hear that your daughter liked her own wee room. It's actually the oldest part of the Lodge. The tasting menu can be a bit of a challenge for our younger guests, so we're always happy to offer something that's a little more appealing to the younger palate and we hope she enjoyed her specially made pasta.
Thank you again for taking the time to write such a detailed and positive review. It was our great pleasure to serve you and we look forward to seeing you again very soon . Have a safe trip home.

Absolutely stunning tasting menu, staff were friendly and very knowledgeable, the service was second to none, the head chef came to our table with a copy of the menu (I had asked for a menu to take a photo of) he had signed this, enclosed a copy of the produce list and took the time to discuss the menu and dishes with us, such a lovely touch to end our evening.
It was 100% worth every penny spent.
Highly recommend.
Thank you to ALL the staff at Edinbane Lodge - we look forward to opening our Gin when we return home!

We were blown away by the amazing meal we had on Friday night. We love a bit of fine dining (when we can afford it - which isn’t often so it’s a big deal for us) but let’s face it, a lot of Michelin Star places can be pretty up themselves (which can be fun in itself) but Edinbane Lodge breaks the mould by being both easily of Michelin standard (I don’t think it actually has a star, but who cares) but simultaneously down to earth and genuinely friendly and accessible. We couldn’t fault the taster menu, and appreciated the team taking into account my wife’s tricky dietary requirements, and enjoyed the two way nature of the conversations about the food and the wine flight (which was excellent). This is top notch classy nosh for people who don’t want to be patronised or bullsh*tted. Hats off to chef Callum and the amazing team. And the monkfish with pickled fennel, cashew and pistachio will stay in the memory for a long time, as will the stunning local beef. Highly, highly recommended to anyone visiting Skye with a bit of cash to splash on an unforgettable dining experience.

The food is incredible, beautifully and creatively presented. I loved how the menu stated where all of the ingredients came from, most of which were locally sourced. Temperature checks are contact details were taken on entry and all staff wore masks throughout. Staff were lovely and service was faultless. I would also recommend the cocktails!
