This place is an institution in New Braunfels. So, .....it's not health food. Although there is grilled stuff in the menu, I can never get past the Fishermans Platter. 1/2 fried catfish, 1/2 fried shrimp. Add a side of the most incredibly crispy thin cut onion rings and you have my favorite guilty pleasure food in the whole county.

This place is worth a visit, but you may have to wait if you get there at lunchtime. Go early! Great atmosphere and service. The onion rings and jalapeño stingers are outstanding, but they are known for the fried shrimp and catfish. Worth a visit. I try to get there about once a month.

Like every Clear Springs Cafe I have been to, the food is delicious. Fried, baked, blackened...it is all good. This location is really neat, although google map gave us a location on the wrong side of the road. The building is OLD and the inside has a clean, rustic look to it. Despite the high ceilings, the noise is not bad... More

Great place was packed for a Monday night. Food was good 😊 service was very good. The building reminded me of the old buildings where I grew up wood floors and an old trough in the men's room.

Excellent food at the Clear Springs Café! For appetizers, you can't go wrong ordering the fried pickles or the famous onion rings. Just be careful, you could make a whole meal out of either one. Be sure to save room for the seafood! Fried shrimp and coconut shrimp are my top choices at this restaurant. But everything on the menu... More

We have passed this restaurant time and time again on our way to New Braunfels and never stopped to check it out. Today, on our way home to Houston from Wurstfest, we stopped in. They lay claim to the best fried catfish and onion rings EVER and they are not lying! The onion rings had a very tasty but light... More

If you want a Texas size burger, you won't find one any better! The patty covers the entire bun and with all the trimmings it's almost impossible to finish it. ( But I managed , lol ) The accompanied fries were great but not as good as the extra onion rings we ordered. They were as good as any I've... More

Description
This was the very first Clear Springs location. It's actually located in Clear Springs, Texas between Seguin and New Braunfels. The building dates back to 1869 when it was mainly used as a grocery store for the locals. If you are ever in the area, it's worth the trip to check out the history that's behind this popular location. You better come early, standing room only is a common sight here.
