Food was ok but not great. Not worth the extra $. Service was good and the meal was delivered quickly. Tried to support local businesses during our stay

Not much on atmosphere and our service was pretty slow. We were in a back room with only a few other people, but their servers checked on them much more often than ours did. Crab cakes and Ahi tuna teriyaki were both very good and...plenty enough to take with us for a second meal a few days later. My husband inadvertently left his credit card there. When he called the next day they said they had it and he could pick it up next time they were open. That says a lot about the people who work there.More
I have a service dog and when we arrived on February 28th I never felt so unwanted. Service dogs welcome sign was posted right outside! Well not with that hostess. The hostess gave my service dog an ugly look and then asked why I have...her. I understand the questions but the feeling of being unwanted did not settle with me nor my family! We were sat in the back room and told how to and where to place my service animal! I’ve been doing this a long time! I know the rules and again I understand! What I didn’t like was the looks! We had a drink and onion rings and left! My family members were quite upset ! I’m sorry we didn’t get to eat there! It’s too bad we felt unwanted! There are many more places on SPI that are very welcoming! We will not be coming back!More
Went for the Monday night special. Filet with baked potato , salad, onion ring and Texas toast. All was great!!! Would definitely go back. Restaurant was very busy as well. Great friendly staff, Kitchen Manager went over and above to find out ingredients for the...wives allergy. Definitely a visit when visiting.More
The food we got was tasteless. The ranch dressing on the salad was watered down and the roll was hard. The price was high for the size of food we got.
My wife and I have been eating at Blackbeard's for at least 35 years. We were of course drawn in the beginning because of their awesome onion rings. We go at least 2 or 3 times a year when we come to stay in Port...Isabel where we have a second home. We were dining with some friends and decided to visit on "all you can eat shrimp Wednesday". I had never had the all you can eat shrimp and I had just started a diet, but I couldn't resist giving it a try. I had the shrimp with grilled zucchini and one onion ring and a side salad with the Raspberry walnut vinaigrette dressing. My wife had the blackened salmon with grilled zucchini and a side salad as well. We both enjoyed the house cabernet. Our friends both had the shrimp specials as well. Our waiter was Eddie C. The place was packed since the shrimp special is very popular. Despite how busy he was, Eddie really took great care of us! The salads came out before the dinner and were perfect. The dressing was particularly good. Eddie kept coming back, refilling our water and checking if we needed more shrimp. The shrimp were lightly battered, perfectly fried and very crispy. We each had a few extra shrimp (we could not resist because they were so good!). The onion rings, which are legendary, were awesome as usual. I will say that I recently ate at the Gristmill in Greune, Texas and they may have very well unseated Blackbeard's as the reigning onion ring champ. They have an extremely similar onion ring but it has a little different seasoning that sets it apart. I hope Blackbeard's can investigate and improve their onion rings since they were the original onion ring champs. All in all, we had a wonderful meal, wonderful service and of course we can't wait to come back!More
Great atmosphere, seating, location, food, and service. This checks all the blocks. Enjoyed a late lunch with the family. Great food and staff is a must. Highly recommended.
Food was very good, service was very good (gracias, Esmeralda) and the prices reasonable. We will return later this week!
We ate at Blackbeard's every Saturday for an early lunch during our month at South Padre island. The chalupas special re tasty, generous and a very good value. Despite the place filling up quickly the service was always friendly and efficient.
Our waitress was very good at her job. I ordered the bourbon steak medium, the taste was very good but the steak itself was pretty chewy. The salad was good.
Great place for a family friendly lunch or dinner. We chose a late lunch. The menu has plenty of options and of course there’s a full bar with a lot of drinks to choose from. Kids enjoyed their meals, the chicken fried chicken is their...take on the original and is worth trying. Highly recommend this restaurant if you happen to land on this island. Customer service is great.More
Wife and I had a late lunch here and it was wonderful. Good seafood and wonderful service. Plus it was walking distance from our hotel.
The food is good. Service is great. We ate here three times because my husband enjoyed it so much. Very friendly place.
One of our "regulars" over the years. Excellent burgers and good wine selection 😋 and very reasonable prices. Our servers were Zenitha & husband, Joe Cayentano. Both very attentive and pleasant.
Food was great! Calamari was the best I’ve had on 3 continents! Our waitress took excellent care of us! Esmeralda was friendly fast and fun. I loved my shrimp po boy sandwich. I liked sweet potato fries but needed a sauce, like caramel or marshmallow...cream for dip. Mashed potatoes were almost as good as my mom’s and that saying a lot. Everyone enjoyed our food. Kids meal came with ice cream sandwich. 100% would eat again !More
