I lived in south Florida for more than a decade, and I've found that non-bland Mexican food is really hard to find in the Salt Lake area. La Costa is one of those rare places where the food quality (for Salt Lake) makes it worth returning, even though the service can be slow sometimes. We were disappointed, however, on a... More

If you judge a Mexican restaurant by the beans and rice, La Costa will be a winner in your book. The chips, salsa, and bean dip are amazingly good. The entrees come quickly and they are quite big. The food is tasty... we haven't ever had a loser here. The bar is pretty meager, be warned.

Food was strangely just okay ..the taco was a shell and meat then there was a side dish is mixed up stuff I didnt get it ? The taste was a little strange. My husband has the burrito and his only comment was " at least they use all white meat chicken" There is no soul in the food ,... More

We had 2 #16,s chimichanga didn't have very much meat on them. I ordered no beans every Mexican restaurant I have been to gives extra rice this was the first one not to. You won't have any leftovers the positions are small. The best part of the meal is the chips they might be better than the meal. I will... More

It was dinner hour on a Thursday night and there were seven of us but being a fairly large place they still managed to seat us with no waiting. The salsa was amazing. The food was good and so long as you don't expect "real" Mexican street food you shouldn"t be disappointed.. It was the typical Americanized Mexican meal. You... More

Often wondered what real Mexican food tastes like. I am not sure La Costa is the place to have that experience. The place is, however, busy at weekends and I wonder why. Perhaps the clientele expects a ton of food and la Costa fulfills that expectation. Clearly I have eaten better Mexican at other locations. Any Mexican joint that served... More

The food at La Costa is average and the portions are a bit small, but the salsa makes it worth going back again and again. For some reason, in the Salt Lake area, Mexican restaurants serve watery tomato paste with jalapeño and call it salsa, but La Costa actually has the onions, spices, and other ingredients that really give their... The food, though Mexican by definition, is so far from Mexican it's almost a joke. Nothing had any real flavor and any of the spices found in Mexican Food.

We had so much fun here on Cinco de Mayo. The place was packed but they had a first class Mariachi Band (I went to school in San Antonio) that kept the atmosphere jumping. No, I don't remember what I had, because we sat at the bar across from the spot where they made the margaritas. I do remember that... More
