Visited here our last morning and were blown away. The coffee was excellent and our breakfast was a very pleasant surprise. There were four different breakfast sandwiches made with fresh made bread and all exceeded our expectations. The muffins and the maple syrup topped giant biscuit were amazing. The staff was friendly and appreciative and felt welcomed!

We stopped for lunch after a day of touristy stuff and were a little overwhelmed by the packed and busy atmosphere. The storefront and interior were beautifully done and very welcoming. I felt a bit rushed to pick something, but they were very busy and I can understand that. I finally chose a delicious BLT. Luckily, we found a table,... More

Good enough pastries but don't expect to be allowed to eat in peace while reading the paper or doing the crossword puzzle. Theoreticall, on reading or working on electronic devices is FORBIDDEN, but have been personally hassled during slow times when I've pulled out a paper back or a pile of essays to grade. STRANGLEY hostile to the many students... More

Easy, open atmosphere; order at counter; pick a seat inside or out; wait for your name to be called. Stopped here for a mid-afternoon, 3pm, sandwich. Despite the time, the place was busy but order filled promptly. I like a bread that fights back. That's what you will find here: crunchy, hearty, tasty. Had the curried chicken salad on a... More

Friendly staff at the counters. Very large sandwiches, plan on sharing unless you are very hungry. limited drink offerings, non-alcoholic. no a/c and tables were none too clean. Next time I would take out and eat at the nearby park if Wx permits.

What a great little place! I wish I could eat bread, it all looked AMAZING! My husband said it was! I had a quinoa salad that was beyond delicious! Wish our stay had been longer so we could have visited again and again!

Wow! This place has fresh, quality baguettes like none other! Crunchy, fresh. This is truly a bakery, not just a storefront.

I was visiting helath-conscious relatives and disparing of what we would be eating when they suggested going to August First. The atmosphere is informal andsimple, with outdoor seating available. I was quite impressed with their array of salads (full dinner plate size), protein bowls and sandwiches. The combinations are wonderful, including some usual (the Vermonter) with others that are more... More

August First Bakery and Cafe is locally owned and has been serving great pastries, coffee, breakfast and lunch since 2009. A true local favorite, located in a bright and open renovated industrial garage. A very Vermont experience with fresh and delicious food served by a friendly staff. Everything is made from scratch! Croissants, scones, muffins, Koiugn Amann, healthy soups and salads.
