We were passing through on way up to Canada and ate here for dinner. Everyone had left-overs with the combination platters. This is authentic Mexican food that can be hard to find in upstate New York so we were so happy with our choice to eat at El gato. Wait staff was fast and friendly. Drinks came right out. We... Met friends here while I was in town. I ordered the combination platter that consisted of pork tamale, and chile rellenos with black beans. I loved that they provided salsa and chips while your meal was preparing to come out. I also ordered a skinny jalapeno margarita, and good gosh I could drink those all day! Our food came out... We are in Burlington for a nephew's wedding and over 20 of us showed up for dinner we were met with a great experience. Our waitress Kathryn was fantastic. Food and drinks came as fast as could be expected. Kathryn had a great smile and attitude. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the place. Exceeded my sister's expectation. We'll... More

My wife and I visited the place while in Burlington. We loved the mexican food at El gato and I recommend the place. We will certainly go back when in the area.

This is a true Burlington treasure. We had several appetizers and fabulous Margaritas. The staff was incredible and attentive. We travel to Mexico frequently and the food tastes just like it does there.

This is a popular new restaurant in Essex Junction. Go a little early to guarantee a seat. You will love the food. We enjoyed the fish tacos a lot.

I was first concerned about a Mexican restaurant called The Cat. Tried to go there about a month ago but there was quite a wait so we went somewhere else. Tried it last week when there wasn't a wait and now wonder why it was so busy the first time. This food is just average. The tacos and enchiladas were... More

Went there recently with folks from work. Started with 10 of us at a large table. A few more folks showed up so they were able to rearrange tables and chairs without a fuss. Chips and salsa were a good start. We didn't feel pressured to order which was good. I had one of the specials which was good and... More

I've eaten at many traditional Mexican restaurants from New York State to California. This restaurant is among the best of them for dining. The overall experience was wonderful. There are more than sufficient staff to attend to the needs of dining in the restaurant. More important, every one of the people who came to our table from the person who... More

I had a horrible experience at this restaurant. During my time there, three different liquids were spilled on me my the wait staff, and the food was terrible. I love Burlington, but this restaurant is horrible, do not give it business!
