Hen of the Wood has some of the best food in BUrlington - interesting choices, perfectly cooked. Our group of 6 ordered 6 small plates and 1 large plate. We shared everything and there was plenty for all. We had octopus, lamb chops, steak, pate,...More

The meal was great! There were 2 of us at dinner and we shared a bunch of the small plates. The octopus was so tender, it was amazing and a must eat if it's on the menu. The lamb shank with maple mustard glaze was...More

This restaurant has some of the best food in the Burlington area but the portions are so small that the value for money makes it a miss. I have friends that are chefs, own restaurants etc...so I understand food costs, the small plate concept, and...More

First the good: the food as stunning. The menu comprises of a good modern bistro take on the farm to table concept. I had the Hen of the Woods mushrooms on grilled bed as an appetizer and my wife had the steak tartar, which was...More

Excellent food and staff. Not much for gluten free bread products for gluten free customers enjoying cheese. That was generally fine because the cheeses were excellent!

The restaurant itself is beautiful, we commented on it throughout the meal, we chanced a walk in at 8ish on a Wed and were accommodated immediately but would recommend a reservation (someplace by the fire!) as the place was very busy. Amazing setting, delicious food,...More

You know you're in for something interesting when the restaurant's name is right out of a Hans Christian Anderson fable. At first it's a touch inauspicious when you walk into a new eating establishment and hear the house music: "You Can't Always Get What You...More

Stopped into the new Hen of the Wood on a raw, rainy night. The warm fire - and equally warm service - were just the trick. I was dining solo, and the restaurant was crowded, so a spot at the bar was an easy choice....More

First of all the place is stunning. Contemporary / Inviting / comfortable not a bad table in the house. Just like everybody is saying both of the bars a wonderful. We prefer the "drink" bar, great to eat and watch people. The staff is very...More

I say experience because the whole package is terrific. The decor is wood, stone and fire, the fire coming from two wood fired ovens in the open kitchen. The overall effect is to demonstrate an upscale but VERY comfortable environment. The service was prompt, but...More

This is a high end restaurant and I would doubt if dogs, other than assist dogs, would be permitted. At least, I'd like to hope that that's the case. There are some places where it's OK for dogs to be - this just isnt one... More

Yes. I believe so. The party next to me ordered a vegetarian plate and I overheard that they thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
