Another early lunch that did not disappoint. A large ham sandwich and a small cup of corn chowder! Perfect for a cold December day. Always fresh n always delicious!

When in Rutland, find Gill's for a tasty grinder, they've made them the same for 40 years or so. All salads and other ingredients made in house, they have sub sizes from small to gigantic (like 3' long) and also cater events. The place is basic, old-school and the real deal. I go there every time I visit Rutland.

Read the reviews on Trip Advisor and when we were in Rutland we decided to give it a try. Wow! Delicious subs! Nice crusty rolls on outside, loaded with your choice of meat, cheeses, and other additions including pickles. Upon entering you wait in line at sub counter to order your choice. Then move on and help yourself to refrigerated... More

Don't bother with Subway when in Rutland, because this place has really great subs/grinders. The meat is really good, the veggies fresh, and theres a lot to pick from and customize. Of the places I've ate in rutland, this has been the best so far.

Making subs for over 50 years, Gil's does it right. You get a great tasting sub made just the way you want it. Prices are reasonable. I would recommend Gil's to anyone looking for a good sub.

We make a point of making the 1 hour, plus, trip over to Rutland several times a year just to get a Gill's grinder. They have been making great grinders for the 40 years I have been going there, and I just hope they continue for another 40 years. You can take out or eat there. It is a little... More

We ate here a couple of times. They are quick and efficient. Long lines move fast. Breads toasted, most meats are standard deli. Size range from mini to extra large. We found splitting large was sufficient. They say that they are Italian and also offer pasta. Caution: they are cash only so any card check or iPhone payments are not... More

We eat here fairly often, and we've noticed in the last little while that they aren't putting as much in the subs as they used to be. Seems like more bread than ingredients. And prices have gone up? A mini-sized grinder with turkey and cheese was over $6. That seems a bit crazy.

Ya,ya...it is always crowded, you have to wait in line, they don't take checks nor credit cards HOWEVER the very best grinder/sub/hoagie to be had in the state maybe New England. The hot meat sub is addictive. You can call your order in but watching them hand craft your sandwich is part of the magic.

I know . I'm from nj shore - I'm used to a good sub . But my husband turned me into a gils regular. Like once a week ! I always get the tuna - never fishy and always consistent . The cabbage is crunchy and adds exemplary texture. I add banana peppers and oil vinegar mixture- umm. Husband gets... More
