Based on the reviews for Charlottesville's best hamburger, we made the trek out to Martins's Grill. We were very happy we did. My wife is on a low carb diet and ordered a quad with cheese and mushrooms and no bun. The plate came with the four burgers semi stacked around the plate with lots of cheese and mushrooms. She... A great informal place to eat. I usually get a burger and fries but they have other items and specials. Good portions and good food. Simply, casual, fast and good!

The burgers here are terrific, although on this visit, the diet required me to eat a cod sandwich which was also very good. This is a good family restaurant, and is a great reminder of how food tasted before the fast-food era. The onion rings are truly amazing. I ate a few more than the diet allowed. Really good.

I hadn't eaten here in years, and went in and ordered the usual burger, but after talking to the staff, I should have gotten more adventurous. I'd noticed a wood burning grill outside when I came in, and they do smoke their own meats daily. Watch for the board in the window with some extra good specials on. They are... More

I love getting a good burger and fries at Martin's. I normally get a cold beer while I'm there. My favorite place in Cville for a good, fast... not fast food burger

Martins Grill is a reminder of how great working men's restaurants were before the fast-food revolution of the 1950s. Their burgers are really excellent, flavorful, well-cooked to order and juicy. And the onion rings are just heavenly (and not officially on my diet!). I keep bringing European friends here for a good American lunch because it offers such a good... More

Pulled pork/slaw sandwich. Very good. The in house bbq sauce, very complementary to the pork. Added a sweet tang to it. We shared the fries/onion rings basket. Hubby had the Buffalo chicken sandwich. Hit the spot.

Great casual, cheap place to have lunch or dinner. Great for families or just anyone looking for a good cheeseburger. Right up there with Riverside, IMO. They also have a bunch of other stuff (gyro, philly cheesesteak, etc.) which I haven't tried, but look good.

One of the friendliest staff we have encountered while visiting the Charlottesville area. The food is simple, but flavorful and reasonably priced. We had the cheeseburger, fries, onion rings, and gyros and were not disappointed with any. Drinks were regularly rand filled and the staff engaged us in conversations throughout. Would definitely recommend.

Family friendly neighborhood establishment serving up the best burgers and sandwiches around. Make sure to check out our daily specials, many coming right out of our smoker. Great service and music doesn't hurt either!
