We are so lucky, living in Speen, to have such a fantastic restaurant on our doorstep. Every meal we have enjoyed at the Old Plow has never been less than good and most have been excellent. On New Years Eve we joined 10 friends, and...More

Went to the Old Plow for a Christmas lunch with some colleagues. The food was good, although we had to pay full price for the guests who cried off at the last minute rather than just losing the deposits we had paid. As it happens,...More

We had a lovely meal here. Everything on the menu was very tasty and inviting. The staff were happy to meet your requirements and my partner who is a vegetarian did not feel left out. The wine list was equally good for a country pub...More

The welcome was warming and so friendly We had pheasant with all the trimmings,Brixam crab cocktail and salad of figs with ham, all exquisite. Finished of with wonderful coffee and chocolates. The service was better then most of the top notch restaurants in London.

Please, please do not visit this establishment if you are vegetarian. They will not understand your requirements. It is a carnivore's delight, but there was only one option for a vegetarian and no carbohydrates were provided. The surroundings were very nice, though a bit cramped,...More

Food was delicious, desserts and coffees excellent. I agree with other reviews - lighting inside is v dingy and it has a cluttered feel. This is a "very good" bistro. Unfortunately the staff think it's "exquisite" and need to realise it's not...

Two days ago we received an email from the Old Plow describing some great Autumn menus so didn't hesitate to book for the usual Friday feeling of not wanting to cook after a hard week. The Fizz & Chips menu ( fish and chips with...More

Went to The Old Plow for an informal business meeting (but with old friends so a pub atmosphere was perfect). A traditional pub on the inside, with real ales and a good fire, the Old Plow offers an extensive menu and some really interesting dishes...More

Been here with friends 4-5 times for lunch now and it never fails to impress. It truly is a hidden gem. Tucked away down a single track road, the place itself is original, quirky and very welcoming. We opted for their Winter Warmer menu with...More

The delightful restaurant at The Old Plow is situated in a charming 17th century inn in the picturesque Chiltern Hills, thirty minutes from Oxford. The dining room with its oak beams, log fire and crisp linens - is a favourite with local celebs, and over its 400 year history the restaurant has hosted the likes of Jeremy Irons, Jay Kay and even Charles II. The Old Plow's unfussy eclectic, modern menu has an emphasis on fresh seafood and classic French sauces. We love the salt and pepper chilli Devon squid with balsamic glaze and rocket leaves; the roast Cornish rump of lamb with apricot and mint chutney; and the seared scallops and bacon with lemon butter sauce. With bucket-loads of authentic charm and a superb French wine list The Old Plow provides a memorable location for business lunches, evening meals and private parties.
