A delicious meal here yesterday of Moroccan soup and venison with vegetables, not to forgot the warm homemade bread straight from the oven.

Nestling at the bottom of a valley in the Sierra Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama natural park is the old lost village of El Acebuchal. The village which was commandeered by Franco in 1948 was left to fall into disrepair until 50 years later in 1998, Antonio García Sánchez, son of one of the original villagers, returned with his wife, Virtudes... This restuarant and area is hidden in the hills above frighilliana. It not only has spectacular views on the drive into it but the restuarant here has a great menu all served up in a great location. Reasonably priced and great tasting, We will be back.

Enjoyed a great lunch here: despite it being incredibly busy (as it was a bank holiday), the staff were as attentive as they could possibly be, and the setting really is beautiful – right in the hills, with spectacular views of the valley below. The food is excellent, and despite being the traditional offering you would expect (and want) from... More

Really wonderful lunch in an unreal place, the sun shone and the setting was second to none. The food was exactly what I enjoy, a vegetarian chick pea stew and their superb peppers, and the bread....most welcome as we hiked over the hills to get there. We were with John Keogh who knows them well and we were treated as if... More

I first read about El Acebuchal on the internet and decided it must be visited. We usually visit Nerja once a year either in November or March and for a number of visits the weather was unsettled and possibly risky for hiking in the mountains. This year, we finally managed it and it was well worth the wait. We took... More

A friend took us here, the drive is bumpy but no more so than a lot roads in the area. The hamlet is beautifully sited and lovingly restored. The restaurant is busy and good. Hearty meaty food, but we had a vegetarian with us and they catered for her without problem.

We visited on Oct 17th - 25c - had beers, wine and Tapas . Amazing village restoration work & story by one man, who served us on the day. Bought wild boar chorizo from the shop (which he opened especially for us). Tapas were gorgeous, but our ladies didn't like the venison salami. Dirt road approach adds to charm &... More

We have been hiking from Competa to this historic Village for a number of years and always stop off at this restaurant This year we were late for lunch so had coffees and desserts instead. Such a lovely selection of cakes it was hard to choose, but we settled on the Apple and Cinnamon with a topping of Marmalade cake.... More

Twelve months to nearly the day we made the off road trek for lunch again. We had different meals this time and both were superb. My partner used to have a few horses and we met up with Ricky who does trekking in the area he was there with two clients and three horses.Plus a lovely couple who lived near... More
