Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We've been here 3 times in the past 6 months latterly in the busy Christmas week The food is always excellent... A friendly family and staff. Plenty of choice with attention to detail. A guy we think called Pierro proudly cooks your steak at your table in a style passed down from his ancestors. The sweets also all cooked in house are delicious. We will return in 2020

This a quite small but attractive Italian restaurant that has great service and serves really lovely food. It is perhaps a tad too expensive but worth it knowing that what you get is well cooked and of first class quality. Make the effort dont miss it

As with the last lockdown we ordered and collected a takeaway from Valentino's last night as a Saturday night treat, we weren't disappointed. The pastas we ordered arrived piping hot and exactly as we had eaten them in the restaurant. They were portions suitable for healthy appetites. The portion of tiramisu was also the same as the yummy ones we'd eaten it in the restaurant and a large portion to share. very good value for money.

My friend and I ate here on the last night of our short holiday to the Isle of Wight. Unfortunately, we were both disappointed with our main courses. I chose veal with Parma ham in a creamy mushroom sauce. The veal was not as tender as it could have been, although the sauce was good. It was served with saute potatoes and a selection of vegetables. I had no complaints with the potatoes, but the vegetables were nearly cold. When I told the staff about this, they gave me a fresh dish. My friend chose seabass cooked in a foil parcel with citrus fruit. She found it bland. For dessert I ordered Tiramisu, which was lovely. My friend chose Italian Trifle. Her only comment was that the fruit in it was tinned. When we got the bill, they knocked £10 off to compensate for the veal, which I was pleased about. Another disappointment was the complete lack of atmosphere, although that probably had something to do with the social distancing restrictions, and the fact that we were sat in a raised area with no other diners in view.

Oh dear, such nice staff and good service but the food was really poor. Maybe we chose badly but it all reminded me of a three star hotel in the 70s. We had the £22 set three course menu, good price for three courses. We both started with a mushroom and asparagus fusilli dish. Sauce honestly tasted like a cheap dried packet mix, almost pot noodle like. The Parmesan was absolutely tasteless and I quite like the stuff you get in a cardboard tube. For mains I had a pork dish served in exactly the same mushroom sauce the pasta had been served in and husband had a spinach roulade. Pork overcooked and dry, roulade bland and almost unpleasant. Nice veggies and salad. Finally we both had ‘homemade’ creme brûlée, it was ok, but I’m almost sure it was a packet mix. Sorry. Loved the doilies though.

Never normally write a review but we felt this place deserved one. Good food, great service and great value for money. On our holidays in the Isle of Wight and ate out each night - this place was the best. Got the set menu which was great value at £19.50 but the prices were reasonable without doing this. However, would recommend doing it as the food got better with each course! At least try a dessert as they are homemade and incredible - you shouldn’t leave without one! Nice to know the host was from our neck of the woods too! (Yorkshire!!)

Shame about the below review, however our visit we found nothing wrong with the place very clean and friendly. food was reasonably priced (especially with rising prices) excellently and freshly prepared food with a great menu and hosts were amazing and very welcoming. We are very lucky to have such establishments in our local area. I always do like to support local wherever I can. Thank you again, we will be back!

First impressions: is this a jumble sale? Decor is run down with a whiff of nursing home in the air. Food was lackluster. I ordered the mixed grill which was a combination of over cooked lamb cutlets, overcooked bacon, over cooked fillet steak with overcooked mushrooms. Partner ordered one of the pastas which was very dry and unimpressive

Easy to book, lovely decoration and atmosphere. Very welcoming restaurant. Good choice on the menu, which also caters for a family member who is gluten free. I’m a bit fussy with what I like and this restaurant always makes me a tailor-made meal which I absolutely love. The food is so tasty - our family love it here, especially for a special occasion.

We were on a short break with the family and booked a table for six people on the Thursday evening. The restaurant doesn’t look too impressive from the outside but the welcome and the food totally make up for that. The steaks were fantastic especially the steak Diane. We ate quite early when it was quiet but by the time we left, it was as full as it could be allowing for social distancing . I got the impression that many customers were regular visitors. All the staff were friendly and welcoming.

I’d read very good reviews & we love Italian food, so booked a table at this small restaurant in Carisbrooke. It’s a traditional family style Italian - cosy interior, very homely. Very friendly staff and service was really good. The food is excellent - very fresh & home cooked. Lovely garlic bread with cheese. Pasta dishes were all excellent & very generous (they come in half portions/starter size too). Great side salad and excellent dressing. Desserts also good though we couldn’t finish them as too full!

Excellent as usual. Starters - mushroom crespini and prawn cocktail followed by pork fillet dishes with a selection of vegetables. Raspberry Cheesecake to finish with two coffees, superb and all staff very efficient and friendly.

Loved the style of the restaurant, the pizza was dire 😖 Italian restaurant, one must always try the pizza no? Awful beyond anything I could explain, all uncooked toppings were buried under a ton of rubbery cheese. The base was frozen and uncooked. They should really take pizza off the menu. My partner though, had a mixed grill with sauté potato's and veg, and he loved it, not really Italian though? I’ve wanted to try this place for years, so I will give it another go, let’s see?

We went to Valentino’s as a table of 5 for my son’s 10th birthday. We had such a lovely meal, amazing choice (you must try the flambé prawns cooked at your table), the staff were amazing and the maitre d was beyond welcoming!!!!! Really a first class dining experience!!!! Many places you go to eat nowadays you are treated like a number but at Valentino’s you are treated like family!!!

Simply fantastic food and service. Authentic atmosphere and extremely welcoming, friendly staff. Highly recommend this place, easily the best food we’ve had since visiting the IOW. The seafood pasta was an absolute delight and the Tiramisu was to die for. A must for anyone visiting the Newport area!
