Lovely meal in a safe, covid secure restaurant, felt fortunate to secure a table in this popular side street establishment. We plumbed for the three course supper, I started with a crispy duck salad, paid the extra for a succulent sirloin steak with plenty of nicely cooked ‘al dente’ vegetables, I then then paid an additional supplement to finish with cheese and biscuits. My wife started with baked brie, followed by chicken kiev, finishing with a delicious slice of white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake.
On the advice of the waiter, we chose a wine not on the printed ‘carte des vins’ explaining that he had managed to source a big bold juicy red Italian Zinfandel, unusually aged in American oak barrels at a very reasonable price of £26.00 We were persuaded and have to say found it most enjoyable. It was not until we noticed the self same wine within a few minutes walk of the restaurant in Morrisons supermarket at the bargain price of £15.00 for not one, but two bottles. That’s £6.75 per bottle if like us you’re NHS essential workers. It’s not going to put us off returning but felt the Zinfandel could’ve been priced a little more competitively.

Had heard from friendly locals that this is their favourite place to eat on the Isle of Wight. We made a booking for dinner about a month before Christmas and enjoyed it so much we booked for the Saturday evening before Christmas and have been back with friends twice since ! This is our favourite place now too...the staff are friendly, the premises warm and welcoming and the food is just.....yummy ! Everything we've tried at Burr's e.g. chicken, duck, beef stew and dumplings, salmon fillet, we have enjoyed and whatever you do, leave space for one of Matt's scrummy homemade desserts...

My Husband & I had a fantastic meal here on Friday night. Everything was outstanding from the ambience to the food & service. Both of our meals were delicious, in particular my pate starter was amazing. We both had steak for our main course which were cooked to perfection. The service from Franco, Alex & Jasmin was very friendly & attentive but not overbearing. We will return & would highly recommend Burr's to anyone looking for a reasonably priced well cooked meal

Just had a wonderful evening. The staff were attentive and very helpful, the menu was mouthwatering and the wine list was superb and incredibly reasonably priced.
A small intimate restaurant with wonderful beautifully cooked food and our group of four had a lovely evening for an extremely reasonable cost for both food and wine.
For us the highlight was the desert course but that didn’t detract from wonderful starters and main courses
Thank you for a wonderful evening

5 out of 5. Our second visit to Burrs did not disappoint. We chose to go on a quieter evening this time but the restaurant still had a warm and friendly ambience with welcoming staff. The menu offered a good selection to suit all tastes from either the set (great value), or À la carte menu.
All courses are homemade, and main courses served with roast potatoes and a selection of perfectly cooked seasonal vegetables. Other side orders are available. Everything which passed our table looked delicious.
We would recommend a visit..

We have visited Burrs very many times with family and friends and have never been disappointed. The food is always beautifully prepared and presented and the service excellent. In our view this is without a doubt one of the best restaurants on the Isle is Wight and I would not hesitate recommending it.

Been meaning to visit this restaurant for 4 years! In fact had booked before and had to cancel reservation due to illness it was definitely worth the wait!
Excellent food all well presented and freshly prepared and cooked. I am not a dessert lover but my goodness the desserts are amazing friendly service and the restaurant has a nice feel about it.
I noticed in a previous review that another customer had given 4 stars instead of 5 and they had an amazing meal so the owner would like to know why ?
I gave 5 stars as we did have a lovely evening and I would return
But …. There was two things I think would improve my next visit one easy to fix ! We really should of been served our white wine in an ice bucket? Yes we could of asked for one but in a restaurant that is serving amazing food and good quality wine white wine should be in an ice bucket.
The decor is a little dated ! But this does not take away from this being a real hidden gem on our lovely Island !

High quality food. Excellent value. Efficient and friendly service. Nothing to dislike.
We were delighted to have chosen Burr's Restaurant as one of the four restaurants in which to dine during our short holiday on the island. My wife and I both chose from the nicely varied fixed price 3-course supper menu. Complementary olives and bread to start were an unexpected addition but very welcome. Better still, when it came to selecting deserts, it wasn’t the restricted choice typical of most fixed price menus but freedom to pick anything from the desert board. How refreshing, and they were both delicious and beautifully presented. We highly recommend this restaurant.

We were very fortunate to have Burrs cater for my daughters wedding last Saturday . We can’t thank Matt and his team enough and we are ever grateful for making this day extra special with the fabulous food . We had canapes an amazing roast beef lunch and a delicious buffet for our evening guests . The two choice menu included some absolutely delicious vegan options . A vegetable strudel and berry fruit crumble . Many guests who were not vegan chose vegan options because they were so good. The crumble was the best I’d tasted. The little touches like heart shaped croutons in the soup and heart shaped butter portions . Homemade fudge and vegan coconut ice with after dinner coffee . How Matt achieved that superb quality we know and love in a temporary kitchen for 60 people with such finesse is incredible and a clear indication of what a top chef he is . Well done and thank you again Matt and team for helping to make this wedding perfect.

Had a lovley meal here on Tuesday night, the staff were all very friendly and the food was excellent! We chose the set menu which was £26.50 for a three course meal per head. Thought that this was very good for value. We also had complementary bread and olives at the beginning of the meal. Each course tasted fresh and full of flavours. Would definitely reccomend!

Four of us arrived at 6.30 p.m. opening time. We were warmly greeted by the staff and offered a choice of tables. The atmosphere soon picked up as more customers came in. We chose our starters and mains and enjoyed a drink before the starters were served. The waitress put complimentary home made bread with olives and a balsamic dip on the table which we thought was a nice touch. The starters arrived and were appreciated by all. The mains were amazing, all four of us were appreciative of the quality and presentation of the food. Again the desserts were excellent. After finishing his time in the kitchen Matt, the owner and chef came out to speak to his diners, another nice touch.

I visited Burrs for a works meal as this was the place in Newport that got the most votes between us. For a Saturday night the restaurant was nice and busy full of people enjoying themselves. Greeted firstly by friendly welcoming staff. The decor was cosy and warm and the restaurant was clean and well presented. It took me a while to decide what to choose as I could have really ate the whole menu! I opted for the Brie to start which was lovely! When the mains arrived (nice and speedy), not having to wait ages between courses and it was well presented, good portion sizes and looked and tasted amazing. The waitresses were attentive and nothing was too much trouble.
Desert was another tough choice to make so I opted for the trio of deserts which again came out beautifully presented and was gone too quickly to photograph.
10/10 we all had a lovely meal and have all recommended Burrs to friends and family and will definitely be coming here again! Thankyou Burrs.

We enjoyed yet another first class evening at Burrs. As usual, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. They offer a three course fixed price dinner as well as an a-la-carte menu so the only problem we had was choosing what to eat as both menus had many of our favourite dishes. Our food was perfectly cooked, exactly to our liking and beautifully presented. The complementary warm homemade bread and olives at the start of the meal was a nice touch. The garnishes with our starters and the side salad with our main courses were works of art. They were packed with an array of very different, tasty and refreshing ingredients and brought a lovely splash of colour to the table. The tables are attractively set and the ambience is very relaxing so it makes for a great dining experience. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

My wife and I visited for an early anniversary dinner on the recommendation of a friend and we were not disappointed.
First impression is “what a tiny restaurant” however after being sat down this changed to a cosy, homely feel and it was a perfect setting for what turned out to be a delicious and freshly prepared meal. Excellent attentive service and great value for money.
Definitely going again soon!

We came here to celebrate a family members 90th birthday and it couldn't have been more perfect. The staff were very welcoming on arrival and attentive throughout the evening checking if everything was ok and asking if more drinks were wanted.
The food was delicious with options of an Al carte menu or the set menu being great value for money. Fantastic presentation with attention to detail, my personal favourite touch was the edible flower on the desert.
All the staff and chef came out to sing happy birthday to the birthday girl which was a lovely touch and made her night very special.
Overall great atmosphere.
Will definitely be back.
