Enjoyed a takeaway from this small restaurant tucked away down a side street in Howden Menu is extensive and service was friendly but my Skyleht Chicken was disappointing. Bland and lacked any real kick or depth of flavour. My sheek kebab and popadums starter was better, but again nothing special. Wouldn't avoid this place but sure there must be better... More

Returned here after a substantial gap and am pleased to report that the food is still as good as ever. This one man band deserves recognition for all the hard work he puts in to making your evening enjoyable and the flavours are a highlight. BYO alcohol certainly reduces the costs and we enjoyed a fabulous mixed sizzler to start... More

We used to frequent this restaurant, but a new one opened that was even better. Unfortunately it got very busy and very noisy and in the end the quality of the food and especially the house wine deteriorated and the prices went up and up with smaller quantities. Consequently we decided to re-visit Jamil Spice, What a good decision! Although... More

Howden has a choice of Indian restaurants and what was our favoured place is now very busy, noisy, becoming increasingly expensive and the food has been disappointing on the last two occasions. As a result we thought we would give Jamil Spice another try. Yes the place is cosy and they could do to rethink the decor, however the welcome... More

Came as part of a group of 7 because we couldn't get in anywhere else. My immediate impression was that the place felt like a rather cheap cafe. It was a Thursday and there was a deal available - any starter, main, rice or nan bread plus a soft drink for £8.95 ( fish dishes extra). The place does not... More

Three of us dined here just before Christmas, and were delighted. The owner is somewhat of a character, despite being rushed off his feet all night long. Takeaways were flying out of the door all night long. Thus, service wasn't fast, but as you can bring your own alcohol in from the off licence across the street, thatwasn't an issue.... More

Superb food, excellent prices friendly service from Raz makes this place a favourite. It is only a very small restaurant but the quality of the food is very good. As it is not licensed you can take your own alcohol and do not get charged corkage which makes for a very reasonable meal out. The owner is taking a break... More

Friendly staff and good reliable North Indian cooking. Kofte recommended. Only downside is the cold draft when people come in for takeaways. The fact that the restaurant is tiny is actually a plus - if you are with a large group it's like having a private dining room.
