We went to this pub twice on a recent visit to Gravesend. Nice pub with great history on the walls. We had a lovely meal as well. Lamb Cutlets were superb. Right by the Thames with great views.
Didn’t book was still accommodated for a table of 2 in a friendly and welcoming manner. Ordered both food and drinks. Food was great, excellent value for money and great portion sizes. Drinks were good too. An excellent place to eat and drink.
In space of ten days , I have travelled by train to Gravesend , and I have eating three times at the three daws, each time I had tickets to sail on The Waverley paddle steamer sailing from Gravesend pier, the pub right beside pier, had...lovely inside window table each time, looking out to the river, staff courteous, friendly , and the food superb, thank you to all staff at this fabulous pub. I Highly recommend a visitMore
Really nice food and pub full of history. Right by the Thames and a absorb walk away from the town centre and train station.
When London Port was busy, with lots of ships anchoring in Gravesend Reach awaiting berths further upriver, the Three Daws was one of the pubs favoured by seamen from all over the world. This meant it was also the preferred boozer for the various locals...who worked in the shipping world. As such, it was a vibrant pub with a wee bit of a rough edge. Move forward many years and it is a modern style pub that clearly sees dining as a major part of the business but, pleasingly, still has plenty of room for the simple drinker. It’s a very smart pub and the service was welcoming and friendly. The only downside is that some of the bar staff clearly haven’t been taught how to pour lager and were filling glasses to the brim, with no head, resulting in flat beers. Simple solution - ask all bar staff to look up countless lager adverts and see that they all have pictures of crisp lagers with a generous white topping. To be fair, when I took my lifeless pint back, another member of staff changed it and, at my request, put a decent head on it.More
My personal experience was not great however other members of our group thought it was okay, the food was of low standard and tasteless
we went for sunday lunch yesterday - very disappointing food use to be so good here but sadly not anymore. we had the roast beef -this was cut very thin and without the gravy would have been very dry and over cooked .roast potatoes were...awful -they tasted like they had been warmed up -not nice at all. the veg was a bit dull just a few carrots, green beans and quite a few sliced up parsnips - not great! no cauliflower cheese and not even the option of a side dish as an extra.service . the desert menu was also a little dull ,we were going to get something as we were still hungry but service was so slow we gave up. unfortunately we wont be going back until we hear of an improvementMore
Nice place but my only gripe, I ordered fish and chips as I’m by the sea but so disappointed to have frozen chips on my dinner, c’mon got to have proper chips with fish, would have scored higher
Great pub, overlooking the River Thames. Eccentric local customers, great customer service, reasonably priced, fantastic food and a fabulous selection of beers, wines and spirits. Food menu is selective but cooked very well, not everyones taste, but the liver and bacon was glorious. Definitely a...very good local pub.More
good food ,gluten free menu available. Service excellent i had cheese and bacon omelette (yes a real omelete) salad and a potato, son had fish chips and mushy peas. both really enjoyed food and stayed for a drink too
Very friendly staff, gentleman at the bar- true gentleman: gave good advise on choosing beer, accepted food order in really professional and personalised manner. Food was delicious. We were sitting in terrace and enjoying not only food but nice and calm view of the river...and few ships passing by. Also want to admit music playing in background- playlist perfect for the place and sound level allowing to enjoy not only music but also a conversation with my spouse. Best Sunday dinner outside London.More
Compliments to the chef! Best and testiest food !Pitty there is no pub like this in London If you want to invite someone for a nice lunch ,that is the place to go!You need to book the table as you might not get one! Foid...is around £13 per dish! It is great fir families ,celebrations…Higly recomend it !Keep some change for tips as the service is not included and i was very sorry i did not habe any change to give to the waiting staff as they are very nice too.More
Really disappointed in the quality of the food. All the cooking was weak and doesn’t hit the mark. Food completely saturated with oil
Was looking forward to the day’s special of Fish Pie but mine was mostly potato and peas in a creamy sauce that tasted of fish but only contained two very small flakes of actual fish. Seasonal vegetables of swede and cabbage were pleasant, yet more...mashed potato (an error as I requested chips) whilst my wife’s roast potatoes were lack lustre. Accompanying sauce may have been parsley but it was thin and fairly bland. Overall a disappointing experience in a very noisy environment but with quick and pleasant service.More
