Our latest visit to this stylish , but comfortable , hotel restaurant for Sunday lunch with family and friend. Sunday lunch was a very pleasant experience. A variety of attractive, expertly cooked courses with a centrepiece of succulent roast beef and Yorkshire Pudding with an array of seasonal vegetables (and a sensible amount of gravy!). Service throughout was efficient and... More

We visit The Camilla several times a year and it never disappoints. It is situated within the charming South Lodge hotel located in glorious parkland overlooking the South Downs. The menu provides a wide choice and the quality of the dishes is of the highest standard bordering, in my opinion, on a Michelin star. Sadly Sunday lunch though, like many... More

This hotel is beautiful. The dining area is also lovely, very relaxed and spacious. 6 of us dined here having an appetiser, stater, mains, dessert and coffee. Everything looks and tasted beautiful in my opinion. However for the price - service should have been better. Things were forgotten and 5 of us were given appetisers and one person was missed.... Took some friends for Sunday lunch. Both them and us have been to this restaurant in the past, both our last visits were not good. However, decided to give The Camelia Restaurant another chance. As we alighted from the taxi, two staff members came out to greet us...excellent start! We were shown into the lounge area where our friends were... More

Eight course taster menu. When you saw the size of the portions you thought, I'm still going to be hungry at the end. At the end of the EXPERIENCE we were both pretty full. The 10 course menu would have been too much. It's not a meal so don't go expecting one. It's an experience to be enjoyed. Taste buds... More

Although we live quite close to South Lodge we have only been in the hotel for weddings and afternoon tea. So we decided to treat ourselves to Sunday lunch in the Camelia. Service from the moment we sat at the table to the end of the meal was faultless. For starters we had butternut squash and roast lamb, both rather... More

Nine of us went to celebrate our multiple family birthdays, as we often do. This year things were different, and quite disappointing. We ate in the Camelia restaurant which may have been our mistake. The food was very slow to the table, as we had not been asked to choose our menu whilst taking cocktails for an hour beforehand. The... More

We have eaten at the Camelia many times but have never written a review before. Having just enjoyed a perfect Sunday lunch (yet again), we thought we should make amends. The 3 course lunch which also comes with delicious home baked bread rolls and an amuse bouche represents fantastic value at £32.50. The food is always of great quality and... More
