Since this pub was bought and refurbished by North & South Leisure I’ve always enjoyed its unique style and edge of town location. Since the change of management team (Jodie & Mike are the Landlords) it has now evolved into the friendliest most welcoming pub in town. Their music nights, pub quizzes, open mic nights, restaurant (especially Sunday roasts) give a reason to visit several times a week, and it’s difficulty not to go in as I regularly walk my dog past the front and even he tries to drag me in knowing just how dog friendly they are, and make him feel important too. To cap it all I had a Birthday Party held in the dining room of the pub and the food provided and decoration made me feel very special. You would be fool to not try this pub (especially on a Friday Night) and wallow in its atmosphere, history and excellent family feel. Much thanks to Jodie Mike, Richard and the other regular team members who work incredibly hard to have made this pub my go to place to be.

Visited this pub again and wasn't disappointed. We had a great lunch and Ash the landlord was great with recommending a good wine and beer to compliment our food. The pub continues to have a nice atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Took a dear friend for a Sunday Lunch. We all had a mixed meat roast. It came with plenty on the plate including stuffing balls and Yorkshires with cauliflower cheese peas and extra gravy. Everything was cooked to perfection and it was real struggle to eat the really generous portions. The taste let you know it was home cooked and the friendly welcome made us all feel right at home. Thank you the Kings Arms for a perfect lunch.

I write this with a heavy heart as I am aware that a young couple have just recently taken over this pub. We have eaten here loads of times and the roast dinner has always been superb, we had heard good reviews about the food since it has been taken over so we were really looking forward to it. Sadly on arrival we weren’t offered a menu, just told “its roasts only today” on asking what the roasts were, it was gammon or pork but the porks not ready yet! Gammon it was then! After a very long wait a huge bowl was placed in front of us ( one each) containing frozen roast potatoes, parsnips, Yorkshire pudding and stuffing balls ( the frozen stuffing balls were apparently home made), and three very small slices of gammon. A dish of frozen veg came out along with cauliflower and broccoli cheese, the sauce was like water , so was the gravy. As you can imagine not a lot of food was eaten. We did bring it to their attention and they were very understanding, apparently they haven’t had a chef for five weeks. So perhaps give them a while to settle in and find a new chef before you venture in for your Sunday roast. We wish them well for the future, it’s a lovely traditional old Horsham pub and needs to serve good home cooked food.

Owner
Dear Maureen… I am so sorry that after our lengthy conversation on your visit, you have chosen to turn to trip advisor and write what I would perceive to be an unfair review. However, It was good to see your husbands empty plate and that you had managed to eat most of it too (despite refusing to pay!) As the landlord explained to you at the time of ordering, we had an extremely busy lunchtime on food, from 12pm when our doors opened. So by the time you had arrived at 2pm, there was indeed, a short wait of 10 minutes for the pork BUT, you were offered gammon OR turkey which were both ready when you asked. You were offered a drink should you have wanted to wait the 10 minutes for the pork. I’m sorry you felt that 20 minutes from the time of ordering was a “very long wait”. Your order came to the kitchen at 2.03pm and was served hot and freshly prepared to your table at 2.24pm. As the roasts accompaniments are cooked fresh to order (definitely not frozen!) we feel that a 20 minute wait for food is adequate. When you poked my stuffing balls around your plate when complaining and refusing to pay, I felt somewhat chuffed that you thought dear Aunt Bessie had made those! I make the stuffing balls from scratch on the Sunday throughout service so they are fresh, but thank you for stating in your review that they were frozen, along with the parsnips and potatoes. Which were, not of course. Your vegetables were actually freshly steamed, not frozen. I’m absolutely gutted that after not being charged for one whole roast when your husband ate every single bit on his plate, and you had eaten most of it, you have still felt the need to leave this review! Yes, while the landlord and I are doing all the work in the pub at the moment, again, during a pandemic and struggling to find staff (like everywhere else) our chef starts this week but I will be continuing the roast dinners myself, just what was served to you as I’ve had no other complaints, only very happy customers returning too. All that being said, I hope you enjoyed your lovely, friendly welcome, COVID compliant and safe visit to The Kings Arms. Thank you,

We have previously had a great Sunday roast here but unfortunately our last experience will mean we won’t be returning. We had a table booked for 1.30 and were seated in the bar areas as the restaurant was full (this was not a problem at all) We placed our orders for roasts with the waitress and as advised got a drink from the bar. We were not advised at any point that there was a long wait, if we had we would have had to leave and find an alternative. After 45mins we asked for an update and we were told our food would be out shortly. We asked another 2 times after this and were told the same. Eventually, after 1 hour 25 mins our food arrived and looked awful! Like it had been thrown together! The potatoes were terrible and a lot of the meat was so tough it was inedible. We did get 1 of the meals removed from the bill but I would rather pay full price and get a decent meal in a reasonable time. Sadly this is now crossed off of our list for a Sunday roast.

I love popping in here for a pint. I often use the “snug” behind the bar for my business. Mike & Jodie deliver a very welcoming reception. Business today had me in the “snug” and Jodie tempted me with Mike’s Mac & Cheese for my lunch: I cook Mac & Cheese for myself with multiple cheeses, bacon, onions, mustard, crumble topping, double cream and tomatoes… for pub grub, I really enjoyed Mike’s taster…,,

I visiting with my father and brother for a roast dinner and it did not disappoint. The staff were all very welcoming and accommodating and the pub felt very homely and historical. As the for the roast, we all had the mixed meats which was one of the best, if not the best roast you will get in Horsham. Reasonably priced, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. We will be returning.

We booked a Sunday lunch here today, for four people. And I thoroughly recommend the roast dinner, you definitely need to arrive hungry, as the food portions are huge. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and even supplied us with some containers, to take home the food that we could not finish. I highly recommend this pub for a visit, if you are ever in Horsham.

We visited on a Sunday and whilst there not q traditional roast there was a choice of pork or chicken in a nap with sauces and stuffing as well as a side of roast potatoes. All very tasty good portions and reasonably priced. Super friendly welcome comfortable seating. Well worth a visit.

Being fairly new to Horsham, we are trying out local places to eat and drink. We visited for Sunday roast and it was fantastic. Delicious roast, generous amount and great value for money. Very friendly and cosy atmosphere, we felt welcomed straight away. We will be back, thank you

On the basis of reviews, we tried The Kings Arms for Sunday lunch. The options were simple - choice of 3 meats (or all 3 together) and a non-meat option. We chose meat options and both were great. The roasts are traditional and very tasty. Good value for quality and portion size. Service was friendly and efficient and ambience was lovely. If you are after a straightforward, great roast then you won’t be disappointed. Stands up very well against a lot of local competition. We will be going back.

I attend the regular music nights. It's a friendly atmosphere as soon as you walk in. A relaxing environment to catch up with friends or just enjoy the entertainment. Tasty food to suit all tastes. The outside is special during the spring a summer with the vast display of flowers. Even the dogs get a no fuss welcome, with home made treats and bowls of water and fuss.

Mike, the chef at the Kings Arms produced an excellent dinner for my friends and me. The burger was excellent and my friends said that the hunters chicken was brilliant. Really tasty desserts too, especially the cheesecake. It was all excellent really. Great food, good service in a lovely, friendly pub. Very highly recommended.

We love coming to this pub for a visit! The staff are always welcoming, the flowers outside are always stunning, there’s games to use in the snug room at the back, a fantastic garden with a roof for when it’s raining and a HUGE selection of drinks. Oh… and the roast on a Sunday is soooo good! Well worth a visit ❤️
