Our first visit

La Piazzetta : 12 August 2020 Our first visit to this restaurant and making use of the ‘Eat Out to Help out’ campaign so had a reduction of around £20 or so off the bill. Booked a table on line several days prior, but a number of visitors were coming up on spec to try and get a table, although the place was full – both outside and inside (only just enough room between tables to be comfortable). The Waiters were all helpful and friendly and worked hard – they were very busy; we didn’t have to wait long before the main meal was delivered. Inside the restaurant it would have been more comfortable to have a few fans around the place as it was very warm. Covid-safe? There was a bottle of hand sanitiser on one of the empty tables near the door, but this wasn’t pointed out to us on arrival. I saw it after we’d sat down, but thankfully I had some in my bag which we used. Menus were handed to us – they did have a plastic cover and we can only hope they were sanitised before giving out to the next customer. Bit disappointed with the food – I tried the Swordfish which came in a ‘tomato & white wine sauce’ but it contained a small amount of red chilli, which I personally despise! It burned my mouth and I couldn’t taste some of the remainder of the dish. Restaurants MUST put this on the menu – it’s not the first time it has happened to me when eating out and makes me quite annoyed. I did point this out to the Waiter, who apologised. (The menu states: Pan fried swordfish with capers, cherry tomato & white wine sauce – no mention of chillis ..!!). The Duck choice was apparently quite good and cooked well. We both had the Tirasmisu for Dessert as there was no Coffee Gelato (which was on the Website menu) but not on the restaurant menu (disappointingly) - it was OK but quite bland. Not sure I would want to return.

A stress-free, family lunch

We had visited this restaurant when it first opened as a couple but returned this time as a family...and we were so glad we did! The food is excellent and the portions large. It’s traditional Italian so if that’s your thing, you can’t go wrong. In my opinion, the best Italian currently in Horsham. We ordered pasta starters and pizza mains. Our little one had his own children’s menu - the portion was enormous and he wolfed it down!! It was simple spaghetti bolognaise, a drink and gelato to finish but that’s what he likes! The service was excellent throughout and the waiters checked in regularly - even just to smile and chat with our son! A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

This place tops it off every single time. It’s become mine and my partners new takeaway obsession. I have eaten in before, staff are amazing, good atmosphere, great food, wide choice, amazing taste to all meals.. trust me I’ve tried a few.. takeaway on Deliveroo is always quick, food arrives hot, decent portion, amazing flavour, just can’t say enough how much this restaurant is worth eating at or at home for date night. Desserts also are to die for, I give this place a 10/10 all round can’t fault

The staff was very friendly but the food I had was not as good as I had hoped. I asked for a ‘vegetarian pizza without cheese’ - well they didn’t have that on their menu apparently. So I asked for a ‘Mixed vegetables pizza’ (price paid £9.50) - I expected: grilled peppers, grilled aubergines, mushrooms, courgettes, olives. I didn’t specify, as I thought it was kind of obvious. This is what I got; a few steamed carrots, beans and peas and broccoli and the ends of some asparagus. (No trace of the top of the asparagus here). I could tell the broccoli had been slightly grilled too; thanks for the effort, but really, what an odd choice of vegetables for a vegan pizza that is! They really didn’t go on the pizza, it tasted a bit awful. There was no seasoning on the pizza either, no olive oil, no salt. The actual pizza dough and tomato sauce was quite nice, but I felt somewhat ‘penalised’ about being vegan. I got the impression the vegetables came from a frozen packet. The sign outside reads: ‘fully licensed Italian restaurant’ - but the pizza I ended up with had nothing Italian about it! Yes: I don’t eat cheese, yes, I don’t eat eggs or meat, but it doesn’t mean that my pizzas have to be boring like this! I appreciate they might not have vegan cheese in stock, but with a little bit of inventive they can make a really tasty vegan pizza anyway. Check out “Ask Italian” or “Zizzi” vegan menus! Chefs need to update their menu in this restaurant to accommodate vegans, come on, it’s 2020!

Don't bother unless you like spending loads of money for tasteless boring food.

Absolute rubbish food that was dry and tasteless which took ages to arrive, too few staff that were irritable and overworked. Resturant was cold and overcrowded. Beer also tasteless , gassy and like the food ridiculously overpriced. Would never go there again.

Gone downhill

Used to love this restaurant, always had great food, service etc. Tonight was unfortunately the last time we will be going. When we arrived, the restaurant was quite empty, but was very warm, and as it filled up it was unbearably hot in there. Had to ask for 2nd drinks, which when they arrived had to also ask for fresh glasses. Ordered 3 lasagne - one of which was half a portion compared to the others but was told they were the same. I specifically requested no dressing but the salad I ordered was full of oil but was told there was definitely no dressing on it. I couldn't be bothered to argue so we all decided after we would get dessert and coffee elsewhere. Well it took 30 mins to be cleared even though the servers had looked over several times passing us by-and not even to service another table. When the bill came, the so-called 'manager' said "service isn't included, are you going to add a tip?" Well that was the final straw and I then ran off all the points above" after he asked what was bad about the service. He ignored me, and when my friend pointed out that it was also so hot in there, he said "now that you are right about!" How rude. I have also been really ill from the salad. Never returning.

On my wife’s birthday today, the day after she got her letter to say due that to Covid that she has to stay inside for 12 weeks, we ordered some food from la Paizetta as a treat. The food was fantastic and it has made her day for which I thank you. Eaten at the restaurant and loved it, just as good at home in these strange times. Thanks again👌

Never disappointed

Eaten here on numerous Occassions and taken family, we all thoroughly enjoyed our dishes, lots of choice, unusual Italian dishes on daily special menu and some classic favourites. Have always chosen the wine of the month on the menu and enjoyed them too. It's nice that it has a definite non chain family run restaurant, feel.

Delicious food and a lovely atmosphere for a great price

A fabulous meal. We ordered the Quattro Stagioni pizza and the Salmon Fettuccini. Both were absolutely delicious. Really sad when I had my last mouthful. The service was excellent (attentive staff and quick delivery of food) and we really enjoyed the calm and relaxing atmoshere (unlike the local chain Italian restaurant that we'd checked out which was extremely loud). At £12.95 per each main course the meal was great value for money.

Fantastic food but customer service needs attention

I had a birthday meal here last Friday with my family (6 adults and 2 children). Our food arrived in good time and was very tasty and went down well with everyone. As the restaurant started to fill up the 2 waiters struggled to serve everyone and we were left for ages. My Grandchildren were excited for my cake to come out but the whole thing took so long to sort out, they went outside to play! I don’t think I would come here again as there are many other places locally that have enough staff to cover busy times.

Shocking experience, highly recommend to avoid

I rarely write reviews but my recent experience at this restaurant has forced me to do so. I went in at lunchtime, fairly quiet, and ordered food from the set menu. Not a huge selection so I ordered a chicken salad for the mains. When it arrived the chicken was stale and very hard and the salad looked off. When I informed the waitress, she looked shocked that I was making a fuss! She then took the dish away, didn't offer me any alternatives but then still had the audacity to charge me for it. When I refused to pay she became very irate and argued the food was good for her!!! I ended up paying for the meal as I wasn't prepared to get into an argument. All in all, there are much better establishments to go to in Horsham.

Food Good, Attentive Staff

We had the dishes mentioned below with the waiting time quite reasonable. They were all very tasty with not overly cooked crunchy vegrtables. The Gamberoni sauce was particularly good and went well with some warm bread. However the Panna Cotta con Carmello at £5.25 was overpriced for the very meagre portion and there was too much caramel sauce. My friend and I would return but not for the Panna Cotta.

Delicious meal and wine! Wonderful service! Fabulous atmosphere and ambiance! Would suggest booking as very popular and busy. Really super evenings! Tom the manager is so attentive and accommodating to my partners limited diet. The food is fresh, tasty and very good value for money for the quality of food. A total favourite of ours, eaten here a number of times now and would strongly recommend this awesome Italian restaurant. 👌 💖

Waited two and a half hours to be served our food, young kids exhausted

The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing and was a nice place to be in We arrived at the restaurant at 6.30. We were a large party of 13, We were ready to order and they completely forgot about us and took almost 1hr to take our order. Over half an hour later our starters arrived. Without the kids (7 and 5) dinners. We finished our starters and we waited and we waited and we waited. Kids were getting board and were falling asleep at the table. They were getting so upset with hunger. Eventually at almost 9pm our mains arrived. At that point most of us were beyond eating and just wanted to go home and get the kids to bed. The food it’s self were average, the steak one in the party ordered as medium rare it arrived medium well. Overall we were left thinking if you can’t cater for a cover of this size then don’t take a cover of this size However they were very good at catering for special dietary needs and were very careful at making sure everything was ok for those with dietary needs were taken care of

Dont bother booking. Disgusting Treatment.

We booked a table a few weeks before going to this restaurant over the telephone for 8.00pm. We arrived at 7.50 and was told that there were people still at our table and we would have to wait for them to clear. To give them time to clear we told the waiter we would pop over the way for a quick drink and come back for our table in about 15 minutes. We arrived back in 15 minutes to be told we would have to wait again as our original table had been given away to someone who had just turned up, even though they knew we were coming back. We will never eat in this place again, which is their loss because we have eaten here a lot. This just reaked of getting as much money as they could with no regard to peoples bookings. A shambles.
