Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Customer service was good. It wasnt to busy when we got there. Towards the end the service started lacking as it got busier. The Lamb chop curry was yummy. Chicken Karahi was bit dry. Dhal was ok. Rice was cooked perfectly. The dessert was average.

We visited the restaurant with a very large group of friends. The food took a while to arrive but that may have been because of the party size. Anyway, the food was well presented and tasty. We had the veggie options & would recommend the paneer based dishes. Fresh salad was also very tasty and plenty of food to cater for our table. Staff were friendly & helpful. Would recommend

We visited this restaurant after a long time as in the past we had found both the quality of food and service had gone down . However we were pleasantly surprised as we were met by very friendly and cheerful staff . Our order was taken promptly. The food was very good , fresh and very nicely presented. The portions were good . The place has had a makeover and was very clean . I would definitely be eating here again

When i went to caraway i did not have a good experience as we had to wait outside for 30 mintes to actually be seated and had a reservation. when we finally sat down the table was so sticky. We also got seated in a bad place, the main bit was decorated very nicely but where i sat it was very dull and plain. I was also hungry but did not get the menu until a few minutes passed. The menus were of paper but in a horrible condition with food on it. when we finally got our food the portions were small and the chilli paneer was like it had just been mixed in chilli nothing else and was not enjoyable. our booking was at 8 at we didnt get our mains till 9 30. The mains tasted good but in to of the servings were half full. The tables were so sticky that when i was getting the tissue on the table a peice was just stuck there. The service was horrible but the food was ok in my experience.

This place was THE place to eat Punjabi food when it opened and for about 10 years afterwards...but since they opened a 2nd branch in Romford it has gone downhill. We visited last weekend and only booked at 12noon for that Saturday evening and got a table for 6.... now that is unheard of : normally you have book at least 2 or 3 days in advance The food : ok, but the chilli paneer (their signature dish of old ) was far fresh fresh The service : average at best. There no evidence leadership, and it seems the " Management" do not train the staff to SMILE ....its a goddam SERVICE industry. God rest his soul but Raj I sorely missed. The ambience : non existent Value for money : on par with the likes of Pizza Express and yet Caraway prides itself on thinking it's on a much more elevated level.

Wow. How the standards have dropped. I have been coming here for the last 5 years. Chefs have changed(confirmed by staff), in total we ordered 11 different Vegetarian dishes. I honestly can say not one of them was up to standard. Mains were ok at best Starters were below average. It’s a shame as I travel from North London to eat here, it use to be worth the trip. 6 of us left very in satisfied, we actually also met .some friends there and they also mentioned that food wasn’t great Can’t comment on the meat dishes but overall flavouring was poor so I don’t think it would be too different

We're big fans of Caraway - pleased to say that today's visit didn't disappoint and met our usual expectations. Mohit took really good care of us, to the extent of replacing our table because the first one was wobbly. It was also lovely and warm inside - so nice to get in from the cold! Hearty Punjabi cuisine is just what is required on a chilly winter's day!!

Travelled from Kent as my husband said it was a great Indian restaurant however it has changed. Standards were poor. Only a handful of people were there but the food was cold and was not fresh. Best thing was the naan which is hard to get wrong. I am all for supporting local businesses but this level of food makes it hard

Absolutely disgusted with the service. Food used to be so good that we would go for dine in or take away every other week however my last 2 take aways and dine in experience with family to celebrate Father’s Day has been absolutely terrible. Sticky table, reusing disposal menu, cheap serviette, plates not cleaned enough. Extremely bad service and awful attitude of staff. Anyone planning to visit this restaurant please think twice… supermarket takeaway would be better option.

This used to be my favourite restaurant in gants hill. It used to have great food every time I went there which was about once or twice a month. I got take away via uber eats yesterday and the food quality has gotten so bad. The paneer butter masala which used to be so delicious was just standard and too spicy, the lamb ki kurchan was appaling- the lamb was old and tough and has lost that rich flavour that it used to be known for. Im so disappointed! I really hope this is a one off and that caraway brings back their amazing food once again.

We visited this outlet today for lunch, In a nutshell it was a meal of the worst kind. The service was non-existent, the waitress was serving two large tables, making the drinks in the bar whilst the manager walked about with no care whatsoever. The staff was carrying glass racks in the restaurant around us trying to lay the tables. the rack was filthy and a great put off. The food, well the starters we ordered (Caraway grill platter) could be best defined as food from a microwave. The entire meat was surely heated in a microwave.. was warn on the outside and COLD inside, nothing that a freshly made grill would be. the prawn was repulsive in taste, overcooked and cold. Horrid quality of service with food to go with it. The Lamb Rarra gosht.. was more salt than meat.. again it was clearly heated in a microwave as we saw it being done from our table. The dal was probably a portion for a child and again had a sour taste. The only saving grace were the drinks in part, the part which was bottled like the coke. The pina colada was 1 par drink and 3 parts froth of some sort. I would highly recommend to a local takeaway than this overpriced place. This place and its management needs to raise its game.. Poor

Ordered a few things- both vegetarian as well as meat dishes. Three of the dishes were cold, somewhat bland ( lacking in flavour) . Usually there is a lovely taste of warm spices and garnish over the food however there was none this time round. The one dish that was enjoyed was the murg methi (chicken dish) however the Paneer masala was fairly tough and somewhat off. Usually enjoyed the meals when we've dined in at Caraway and due to lockdown it's the first time we've ordered takeaway. Wonder if maybe they're using up older stock? Shame, we will try other places now.

Went to Caraway for lunch today as we were passing. So glad we went in! Amazing food and service. We had Pav Bhaji and Pani Puri followed by specially prepared methi chicken, black daal and malai kofta. Absolutely brilliant. Thanks!

This is used be one of the best restaurants but now it had gone down the hill. I didn't see any of the old faces as this might be the reason. Staff don't have a clue about the service. Waiting staff to managers cannot even speak English so forget about raising an issue. Food used to be really good but now I think my own cooked food is much better. Tables are very sticky, restaurant smell bad and feel like a fish market as it is so loud even the staff shouting to each other. Overall very bad service and food. Would not recommend and won't be back as there are other good restaurants in the area.

absolutely horrible. are you sure your lamb is LAMB ? i very much doubt it, nothing fresh about any of the food we ordered. all i could see in the curries was peppers and onions, it was like find the meat in the curry competition !!!! all the food was terrible from starters to mains. how can you serve food like this. i was very sceptical in the first place as walking to it we see many restaurants full and very busy. this had 2 customers in other tables only. but it was late so decided to try it. not recommended at all. it’s very dark and dingy inside. toilets filthy and smelly. obviously we won’t be EVER going in there again.
