Every now and then you try a restaurant for the first time and Wow! this was my experience at Potyo!. Read the reviews and looked at the menu online and decided to try a early Sunday afternoon meal. On arriving it does not look like an Indian restaurant and on entering there is a lovely warm, light and stylish modern decor a really good look and feel to the place. There was a very nice buz of happy customers and we were quickly supplied with menus and the new Sunday Roast Thali menu was explained but we decided on the main menu for our first visit but for sure will be back for the Sunday Roast. We had a very nice NZ Sauvignon Blanc wine with some Indian nibbles followed by the Green chicken curry and the Malabar Prawn curry both excellent with perfect spice levels. The Malabar Porotha bread was fantastic another level compared to other Indian restaurants!!. At the end of the meal we met the owner Jason and had a very nice chat about our travels to India, Pakistan and Singapore, finally a place where they don't have Madras etc on the menu but what they do have is perfect!!!. Its a very family friendly place dishes for all spice level lovers and the menu is a great read!!. I don't live in Wilmslow but more than happy to make a 30/40 min drive to enjoy another brilliant meal!. Jason and his team have created a lovely place, keep that Chef happy!!!. Enjoy!!

Potyo is such a special little place… I’m not often in Wilmslow but when I am I love to try and come here - the food is carefully prepared and is so full of flavour - cannot recommend enough!
My server was kind enough to share a few things about the food once I had said how much I loved it, such as how it was prepared etc. Very friendly and relaxed

Excellent. Lovely restaurant, calming peaceful friendly atmosphere, tables weren’t crammed in. The waiters were happy and enthusiastic to recommend the dishes taking care to listen to our likes and dislikes. Delicious food, fresh ingredients. Good price. Will definitely be back.

We visited on a busy Saturday evening.
The restaurant is small( cosy) bright and decorated in a curious way with some nice caricature murals on the walls - not sure how this ties in to a coastal Indian vibe but it was interesting.
The service was a little erratic to start with - the waiters couldn’t seem to decide who was waiting on our table with the result that we were repeatedly asked if we’d like to order drinks, starters etc They worked it out between them and, then onwards the service was great.
The food was very good. A combination chicken & prawn sharing platter, to start with, was very nice with excellent flavours. I’d have liked to have seen it better presented with some salad or vegetable embellishment but hey.
The mains were also very good. My Boatman Curry Bowl was nicely cooked, subtly flavoured and whilst a little short on fish, was very enjoyable with the lemon rice helpfully recommended by our waiter. My wife’s Butter Chicken Curry bowl was good but was heavy on sauce.
Drinks were expensive and there was some confusion over the size of beer / wine ordered and paid for.
When the bill came I was slightly surprised at the total and disappointed to see a 10% “discretionary” service charge added. The service was good but the high prices charged should more than cover the cost of providing the service and anything additional should be left ( properly) to the discretion of the customer.

We dine here regularly as it serves great food and has a fantastic, friendly service. The whole team are always knowledgable about the dishes and the specials and they honour of their way to make you feel welcome and valued.
The boatman fish curry has to be tried - incredible!!!

At Potyo, lunch is a flavorful escapade. The Butter Chicken Curry, a fragrant dance of spices, and the Vegetable Curry Bowl, a vibrant medley of perfectly cooked veggies, showcase the chef's expertise in balancing flavors. Dessert seals the deal – the Chocolate Lava Cake's decadent eruption and the refreshing Mango Kulfi make for a sweet crescendo.

Lovely food and can't knock the quality which is very high. Flavoursome and high quality. Our only criticism is the portion sizes, which are quite small. The starters of fried squid were very small and for the price we felt cheated. The prawn curry had very few prawns in it and the sauce was very watery. The Butter chicken was lovely, as was the lamb dish but again not much meat in it and all sauce. Perhaps we should have ordered some bread to fill us up but at the prices we did expect a little more than was offered. Staff lovely, but not sure we'd visit again as we came out hungry.

Came for a Saturday evening with my Dad, we are both veggies. Good was great, the service was very friendly. Even though I ordered multiple breads and glasses of wine the final bill was very reasonable.
Will return next time I visit Wilmslow

Excellent food and service. All curry bowls £10 on a Tuesday which is really good value. We are trying different dishes each time we come. All dishes have been excellent. Looking forward to coming back next time.

What a wonderful place and the food and staff were amazing, we really feel we had the personal touch from Roy who was happy to tell us the story behind the beautiful art work when we asked about it. We will absolutely be going here for food in the near future. I can honestly say as we all sat there we all was of the same opinion that we felt we was eating a meal whilst on holiday it felt that comfortable and relaxed. Thank you Roy for making our visit so special.

First time for us 3 "Oldies" !
Most certainly the whole experience lived up to the reviews and recommendations we had previously received.
And yes there are many new as well as some familiar dishes but all with a twist that reflects the region of India the owners comes from.
The website pictures very much reflect what you will find in this small but perfectly formed eating house.
Finally please be aware that if you are lunching you are NOT restricted to the lunch menu so before going suggest you take a peek at the a la carte menu where the yummy curry dishes listed can be ordered!

We loved our visit to Potyo for a meal one evening at 8pm after going to the cinema. We had a warm welcome which was a good start. The waiters made some helpful comments on the menu and suggestions when we asked. As a result we chose a mixed starter to share and a main course from the "Potyo's favourites" section of the menu, plus beer to drink.
My pork vindaloo was excellent, far removed from the hot and uninteresting vindaloo typical of many a run-of-the-mill Indian restaurant. Here the chef obvously takes pride in the food he serves. My meal was bursting with subtle tastes with a hint of vinegar. Nothing overpowering, everything just right. My wife was equally pleased with her chicken.
Two waiters attended to us and both were helpful, polite and friendly. Jason, the owner and chef, came out to chat with guests which was a very nice touch.He communicated his enthusiasm for his restaurant and the food he offers.
All in all it was a very sophisticated experience which was enhanced by the fact that the prices were very reasonable.
The restaurant wasn't very busy when we went, just a few other tables occupied, which was rather a shame. It deserves to be extremely popular. We will certainly be going back before long.

This was our first visit to this place and we had high hopes of something a little different. On the whole it was different, great spicy potato starters and the curry, whilst not overly spicy was packed full of flavours. However, it was all let down through the use of chicken thigh meat and not beeast meat.
When we mentioned this we were told that this all they use, but if you want to ring up and give them 24hrs notice they will get some in.
Seriously? What other restaurant do you ring and ask to get ingredients in because you would like to come and have a meal?
Simpler to just have the option of breast meat for an extra 50p so that you have the choice.
Would we go back? Highly unlikely.

Just got back from a fantastic evening at Potyo. It was our second time and we were even more impressed this time around. The food is absolutely brilliant and the menu offers a great number of new and different options particularly from the Kerala and Goa areas of India. Special mention for the fish curry and the porata which was the best I’ve had. We were particularly impressed with the focus on customer satisfaction . The owners are a lovely couple and spent time talking to all their customers, not only to ascertain if they were enjoying the food but also to share their enthusiasm for the establishment they have created and the story behind it. Special mention to our waiter ( I think his name was Alfie, apologies i have it wrong!) he was attentive from the get go and was really personable offering advice on his favourite dishes.
We will certainly be visiting again soon.

Fantastic meal full of fresh ingredients and lovely taste combinations. My lamb and veg in coconut milk flavoured with star anise and cinnamon was gorgeous and my husband’s biryani just as good. Great service and a gentle atmosphere too made Potyo a perfect place to celebrate our wedding anniversary
