Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I love this place! My Bestest M8 suggested this pub as a venue for a lunch to celebrate my 60th birthday with a few friends and their dogs. My Son is a wheelchair user and was able to navigate quite easily too. The low ceiling...beams and open fire were very welcoming. From the off, the staff were extremely helpful efficient & friendly. The other patrons were lovely. The food was lovely. Generous portions. Well cooked and very tasty. My friends were naughty. They'd got me a cake! The whole pub sang Happy Birthday to me. Erkkkk. I had trouble getting a cab home for my son & I. The staff made sure we weren't hassled out to make way for others. Very caring! We are going to visit again. We love it at The Ship. Thank you for the wonderful experience. 👍💯More

I visited The Ship on Saturday evening after eating at Razza across the road. The ship is a very nice traditional pub with friendly staff. It is dog-friendly too, which is always good. There were few dogs in the garden, so in between drinks, we...fussed over them. It was a good evening all in all.More

We often drop into the Ship during quiet times for a quick drink. My wife is in a wheelchair, has Parkinson's and dementia (how bad can it get?). Sarah always has a smile and looks after her. Making a point of speaking to her. Alway...brings a smile to me. Even at times served us at the table so I do not have to leave her. I had a well deserved pint of Punk today (normally I only have a 1/2, my wife an extreemly small lemonade with a straw. A small but important highlight to our day. Kinds thanks to all the caring staff at the ShipMore

Had an impromptu stop off at the Ship with friends and our children. The staff welcomed us in and juggled the tables around so that they could seat us. The 2 ladies that served us were so nice, helpful, great with the kids and nothing...too much trouble. Sarah and Keira are an asset to the Ship. The best service I have received in a very long time!More

I was stopping nearby and decided to dine in here one evening. The landlady was friendly but the menu was a bit limited and the pub was quite dark and dingy. I went for a two course meal of breaded mushrooms which consisted of pretty...much breadcrumbs and a Turkish chicken skewer which was excellent. The beer wasn’t the best as flat. What really disappointed me was that the bill automatically included 10% service charge. I didn’t revive great service which is what I usually tip for but had no choice here.More

Had cake and lovely filtered coffee. Stayed longer than expected, we enjoyed...it so much.both decided....will definitely be returning.More

We popped in for a Sunday roast and loved it. Freshly cooked, generous and delicious. Special mention to the cauliflower cheese available as an extra. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, good cask beer. A real gem.

The best Sunday roast dinner I've ever had in a pub! Perfectly cooked turkey and an excellent variety of fresh vegetables - couldn't fault any of it! Definitely the best pub food in Romford.

Ist time in this pub/restaurant even though we live no more than a mile away. Decided to drop in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch, had homemade soup, excellent, pate, chicken wings with teryaki all great and tasty. Wine was house white Pinot Grigio,a good choice. A roaring...fire, NO annoying sports TV screens, there could have been music playing in the background but didn't really notice any. So if you need to eat and have a chat in comfortable surroundings this place is for you. Service was a bit slow but this didn't detract from the overall experienceMore
