I spent a lovely afternoon with my family here yesterday. Despite it being really busy, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. A good selection of drinks were available and we ordered sharing platters which were served really quickly with a good range of sauces....The food tasted really fresh, a much higher standard than expected. I would definitely recommend the battered prawns! The manager came over to check we were happy with everything, which was a nice touch. Would definitely visit here again!More

We were visiting the area and staying at the Holiday Inn, Runcorn. They had run out of food for our coach passengers, so decided to spend our remaining 3 evenings in local pubs and this was the first on the list. We were daunted when...our taxi driver said he lived in the housing estate across the road and he wouldn't visit it, but we thought it would be better than the Holiday Inn. When we arrived, we almost got back in the cab, but decided "in for a penny". It is the noisiest pub I have ever been in. Absolutely packed, teeming with kids (well, it was the school holidays!) and we truly couldn't hear each other speaking - it was THAT loud! We had to queue at the bar for drinks. The food was pretty disgusting. We had battered prawns and are used, these days, to light, tempura or suchlike, batter but these were in a thick cocoon and we literally prised them out of their cocoons, as the batter was inedible. The rest of our food was equally pretty bad. To top it all, there was an elderly couple (probably in their 60s) practically having sex in the middle of the bar, for about half an hour - hands everywhere and tongues down each others' throats - disgusting. A lot of teenagers were spending a suspicious amount of time in the loos and I think drugs may be involved, as some of them looked pie eyed. Unless you like really rough, noisy pubs, with awful food, avoid like the plague. Only one good thing to say - the lady member of staff (I presume manageress, but not sure) who looked after us on our arrival and during the course of our stay with a star - lovely, friendly, helpful - such a shame she has to work in such an awful place.More

Ordered a passion fruit martini, and this turned up (this is after a mouthful). It tasted like cordial. Tried to ask for the manager but he sent his waitress to tell us there's nothing he could do... 😬
