My daughter found this hidden little gem, whilst searching on google maps for a place for us.... this is an absolutely amazing place. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is lovely too. My daughter had katsu chicken burger as suggested (she couldn’t make up her mind) and she ate all of it, and it’s the best she’s ever had, from a fussy teenager that says it all really! I had the mushroom and Guinness pie with creamy mash and peas and boy was it beyond anything I’d ever had. Presented perfectly and tasted absolutely delicious.

We arrived in Newcastle Emlyn a little bedraggled after a few days on the road but we were made so welcome and fed with some fantastic vegan food. I had a fantastic curry which was good value for money. So good we went back for breakfast the next day!

I was lucky enough to be treated to this on Sunday and I can't even express how delicious it was,we went for all 3 courses and it was by far the best gourmet meal I have had out in a very long time, and incredible value for money...the wonderful array of flavours and presentation of dishes was second to none, so if you have someone special in your life who is a real foody, treat them to this delight on the taste buds whilst you can,you won't be disappointed!😋❤❤❤...still licking my lips,4 days later😂......What a fabulous gem of a place, with a gentle informal atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, that bend over backwards to accommodate all diets and allergies. We are very lucky to have such an establishment in our little local town! Can't wait for my next visit.

We chose the Riverside because of its veggie/vegan menu and the location. Nice outdoor seating, with a varied menu and drinks available. Everything else was haphazard. While it was late lunch and had plenty of customers, it wasn't crammed, in fact I don't think anyone was sitting inside. Our order took 45 minutes to arrive by which time the drinks hadn't come either and we had to ask for them (just two cans out of the fridge with glasses). I think we saw five staff, two in the kitchen, and yes they were busy but a lasagne and a bake would surely be pre-made and need dishing/serving, possibly warming first, then the prepared salads of the day (which were also pre-made in bowls) adding to the side. But our table and others were all staring into space waiting and waiting. Staff repeatedly seemed to walk all the way out with one dish in hand then go back for something else. Many brownie points to the young lad serving who was unflustered and maintained a friendly welcome and service at the till, at one point politely rescuing a colleague who was trying to take our payment but honestly had no idea how much the dishes were and couldnt find them in the menu. We still enjoyed but it's a good job we weren't in a rush.

We were recommended to come to this lovely vegetarian cafe, On the first visit we had a delicious coffee and chocolate cake - all the cakes are vegan but you wouldn’t know it. We then booked for breakfast 2 days later and had the full vegan breakfast- absolutely great. Tasty and well cooked we were both highly impressed. The service was friendly and the atmosphere and setting just perfect. Highly recommend for everyone- vegan or vegetarian or neither you won’t be disappointed.

We ate here as a family of four for lunch. The menu is ok but as a family who are all vegetarian/vegan and eat out regularly at vegetarian restaurants we were disappointed by the lack of tofu and Seitan on the menu and the selections on offer lacked any real imagination. The dishes were mostly cheese based which we found quite amateur and not that adventurous. After ordering 3 paninis and a wrap we had to wait over an hour on this being brought to us. When it finally arrived we were told that the panini machine could only fit one at a time therefore my daughter and I received half a panini and the other half was brought 10 mins later. I found it a bit odd that in a restaurant that offers a large selection of paninis that this was the case. Very odd and perhaps they need to rethink the way dishes are being made. I was also disappointed by their use of track and trace. There was a pot on the table with forms to fill in and no forms were in it. No one even checked to see if we had completed track and trace. All in all we were disappointed by the selection of dishes on offer, the wait time and the lack of care over track and trace.

I am sorry you felt your visit wasn't as you had hoped. We are a very small family run cafe with an extremely small kitchen to work in and we do offer a very big extensive menu compared to many places and get alot of compliments on our ability to do it in such a small space. You were not told the panini machine only fit one in but that it does have limited space so, yes, when we have many paninis on order it can be a bit of a juggle to fit them all in and the time wait can be long. I am sorry you felt dissatisfied with having to wait for the final one but we felt seen as you were having the same it was better to send you both half out and the other one shortly after rather than make the whole table wait longer as it was an extremely busy day and we were aware the wait wa slinger than desired. There are many other things to pick on our menu besides paninis and cheese based things and if you had looked at our Sunday menu you would have seen both tofu and seitan dishes on there. We did used to have dishes with these on before in the week and they were all very popular but since covid we have cut the menu down slightly as many places have. However we are planning to bring these dishes back when we open for evenings in the future and as things return to normal. As it is such a small space to work in we can only have a certain amount of staff on and we are tying to keep up with it as best we can and most customers see that and appreciate it.

We aren't vegetarians and didn't realise on arrival that this was a vegetarian cafe, but this certainly didn't deter us or effect how much we enjoyed our visit. A nice varied menu still and what we had was delicious! The bread we had (bruschetta and panini) was just lush and we followed with some delicious cake. They were a bit short staffed and so busy, but service was still with a smile and all in a beautiful setting. We look forward to visiting again 😊

We went down to Riverside cafe on Sunday as we heard they were serving their superb Seitan vegan roast. There were three courses if you wanted them, yep we did! Starter was Beer battered banana blossom fish which was utterly amazing to say the least. Followed by the succulent Seitan roast dinner with yorkies and all the trimmings and lastly the luscious Lemon curd and blueberry desert. The cost of this three course meal was a meagre £18 and completely vegan. Full adult portions. Excellent service and friendly atmosphere throughout. A must if you like Sunday roast. Booking is a must to avoid disappointment. Well done girls!

What a fabulous find when visiting Newcastle Emlyn. Cafe by the river with indoor and outdoor seating (under cover). Great choice of healthy, nutritious food a long with the traditional cooked breakfasts, sandwiches, toasties and jacket potatoes. Also do yummy homemade cakes. We arrived dead on 12 noon and my husband really wanted a cooked breakfast (which they serve until 12). Even though by the time we ordered it was just after 12, they still honoured it and served him a cooked breakfast. My husband was thrilled! I had a yummy roasted veg, hummus and spicy chickpea bruchetta, my daughter had a cheese and beans jacket and my son a cheese toastie. We all enjoyed and came with a lovely side salad. My daughter said her hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows was the best she ever had! Water is available with orange and lemon slices. There's also parking on site and a small play area for the kids. A gem of a place! Definitely recommend!!

Hi I just wanted to say a massive thank you to riverside cafe in emlyn. I'm a local chef and often me and my partner and children find it hard to go out for food as I can be very hard to please. I have been a number of times now as the team at Riverside just seem to keep getting it right. Firstly there extensive menu with so many delicious choices I mean fair play guys pulling that off the way you do that kitchen is small. The prices are so cheap however are not reflected in the quality or amount of food. Last time we went me and my partner had the Indian street food sharer and wow it was amazing so many different flavours to try and enjoy. There kids menu is great for our little ones and they allways do their best to get the kids food out ASAP which anyone with children will understand means we get to enjoy our coffees in a little bit of peace. I say an all round win from start to finish every time never had vegetarian food so good you don't even miss the meat. Owww try there burger so intreasting and flavoursome. Our mission is to work our way through the menu. Thanks riverside team see you soon 10/10

We visited for a family meal and were welcomed by smiling staff who made us very comfortable and offered a choice of seating despite them being very busy. The menu catered easily for all in our party including a fussy child! And it was all light and delicious (so often a lunch can be overly heavy) - I was impressed with how quickly the food arrived considering it is all handmade to order. After we ate we were able to sit by the river with coffee and the staff didn’t make us feel rushed at all. The restaurant was COVID compliant and get very safe and I am looking forward to my next visit.

Great breakfast or brunch selection even though the order took quite a while to be taken and to come. We ordered one latte and one flat white but honestly on tasting both I couldn’t tell the difference and they came in the same size cups. I ordered a second flat white partly to see what would come but also because my wife’s order was late in arriving. Overall the food was of good quality but I felt disappointed in the coffee.

Called in on the way past and had such a fantastic lunch. Lots of choice with some really unusual options that will suit make it touch to choose between. The service is brilliant, friendly and makes everyone welcome. It will take a while to have your food bought to you as they very much cook to order and its a popular spot. It's a lovely chilled setting by the river so not such a bad place to enjoy a drink while you wait. The food is delicious and has so many layers of flavour. Lots of interesting local ingredients. Prices are fair for the quality of the food.

Our car broke down outside and we had an hours wait for the AA. It was almost 5 o’clock and close to closing time, but these lovely people served us coffee, gave us huge slices of cherry and orange cake. Comfort food at its finest. They were so kind. It was drizzling, they offered us shelter until we were rescued. We’re moving to Adpar and will be regulars at this lovely cafe. A big thank you.

Saw this cafe did cooked breakfast and was on our way homefrom holiday in Cardigan. Good reviews on TA so booked. We had a great cooked breakfast which I really enjoyed, reasonably priced. Service was great if a little slow. They are also dog friendly. On paying the bill, I asked why there was no bacon in the breakfast, only to be told they were a vegetarian cafe. I would never had gone had I realised this but so glad I did. Sausages were amazing. I would definitely come back here.
