We had nonexpectation. Only finding a place where to relax and have good comfort food after an exhausting working day. First visit to Balboa Island, we decided to stop at this restaurant. Not fancy, very old furniture but very nice staff and super good food! We shared vegetable pizza an enormous eggplant parmigiana! Both were delicious with a refreshing Sam... More

We just stopped in for a glass of wine, but were impressed enough by the ambience and service that we will come back for lunch or dinner. The setting is inviting and even if you are seated towards the back, you still have views outside. I only wished we had looked at the menu, but like I said, the staff... More

Delicious flavor filled pasta dishes. Vodka penne, shrimp artichoke angel hair and penne garlic olive oil dishes. Large portions. Bread with olive spread was also flavorful and special. Great service. Reasonable prices. Nice location to walk around the shops of the island. Would highly recommend.

I went to lunch today with my girlfriends at this cute little Italian restaurant on Balboa Island. The restaurant is small with a lot of old charm. We were seated right away at booth, so we can all talk easily, not all at the same time of course. We had not seen each other in a while. Our server came... More

Great little Italian restaurant on balboa island Main Street. Staff were great and very attentive. Food was delicious, and the portions were huge. We'll definitely be back when next over in California

My partner and I visited on a weekday evening. The restaurant itself is cosy, a table in the window overlooking the street is a good choice. The service is quick and friendly. Complementary bread is on offer whilst you wait for your meals. There is lasagne of the day (which makes you ask - how many variations of lasagne is... More

Ciao is an old restaurant on Balboa Island, over 20 years old, with photo memorabilia. It looks like it has never been remodeled, like stepping back in time. I like coming there off hours to get my favorite table looking out to the street, watching people walking by. This time was on early dinner just after sunset and the food... More

My wife and I arrived for dinner and were seated immediately however I would suggest a reservation. Others behind us we're not so lucky. We were greeted with a smile and the food was fresh and had a good flavor. They also offer individual size pizzas. I had the ravioli which was a slightly not mushy and was very good.... More

Centrally located, and consistently popular. The popularity, however, is mainly due to its convenient location. The specials almost never change, and the food is decidedly average. Not much stands out as unique or exciting. Wines are unnecessarily overpriced, with bottles priced at about 4-5 times their retail value. Speedy service.

Visited Balboa Island on a recent trip to Newport Beach. Loved the Main Street full of restaurants and shops. Decided to have dinner at Caio restaurant. I ordered shrimp scampi expecting it to be something safe that I couldn't go wrong with. I was wrong. It was horrible. It tasted like parmasean cheese. It came with pasta that was limp... More
