The location is the saving grace for The Village Inn. The adult beverages are well made, interesting and a little pricey for the environment. The menus for brunch is standard issue omelettes, burgers, etc. and again, OK, but not great. If you're on the island, you won't leave hungry or dissatisfied, but you won't leave ready to return the next... More

My wife and I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and were greeted at the door. We were seated on the bar side for a quick snack and a drink while catching a little football on the televisions over the bar. We were seated next to the gas fireplace which was very nice on a cool afternoon. The beer was... More

Food is often good, music usually fun, almost always an entertaining evening. Nothing fancy, kind of a locals hangout.

We visited here for an impromptu evening meal. We were seated in the 'back' area which was fine, we were the only ones at that time but it soon filled up. The service was very slow, not just the intial taking of the drinks order but the time taken for the drinks to arrive at our table was extremely long.... More

The VI is a cornerstone on the Island, in large part because it has been the only place on Balboa Island with a full bar. But it's more than that. After changeovers a few years ago, the menu was updated and new items were added. Very good steamed clams, a superior wedge salad with real lardons, and a bar menu... More

If you want a drink, music and people this where you want to be. If there is live music it can get quite noisy. Not a big fan of their food as there are lots of other great options with in walking distance.

This is a Vintage Inn. It's been at the same location for over 75 years, and still attracts a lot of "locals." There's an attached Bar inside. And, many can just walk home, if they live on B.I.

We went to the Village Inn to see one of our favorite local bands-Monkey Finger. They are a fantastic cover band, if you've never seen them! We had their Ahi appetizer and calamari appetizer. Both were pretty good. My stepson and I split a salad, and my husband had the fish and chips. The restaurant was pretty packed, so I... More
