my wife and I visited for an anniversary dinner on Monday evening, on arrival one walks into a hall like space with attractively laid out tables, and a large bar/kitchen area. The ambience is not quite romantic, the lighting is too bright and the place is somewhat sterile for such a beautiful room. The wine list has a obvious local... More

We went on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was very quiet. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We ordered a lamb dish and the vegetarian pasta. The lamb was amazing - full of flavour as was the the risotto that accompanied it. The veggie pasta was very good with lots of different vegetables. We shared the strawberries and... More

We couldn't fault the food or the service the evening we visited. The lamb rump and pork loin were cooked to perfection with tasty sauces and a good selection of vegetables.

Our main course was delivered to our table without noticing both wine glasses were empty. Then had to wave an arm around for too long to get someone's attention. Duck was beautiful. The chairs are very wobbly - had to try 3 different ones and still couldn't get one that wasn't wobbly (and I'm not THAT big).

We walked in with no reservation. The staff (regrettably) found space for us. If only we knew. I could go into the failings of the food but suffice to say, it was wholly average and dated and carelessly prepared food (the steak came out blue - i asked for medium rare, the duck came cooked without a hint of pink... My wife and I both had the special, which was a pork loin. It was very good with an interesting array of sides, including beet tops and fennel. (We think!). The service was very good.

Not sure who's more stupid. Me or the people who run this place. 1. Having read the ugly reviews I still went there! Never again. 2. They know they have a bunch of ugly reviews out there, but they don't appear to do anything about it. And now the narrative ... Well Martinborough is a beautiful place with no shortage... More

Very odd menu (e.g., Caesar salad appeared no fewer than 3 separate times on the short menu for that evening) and surprisingly detached/cool service made for a seriously less than impressive evening meal. For example, we ordered wine to go with our meal; the order was taken and the waitress emerged some minutes later to tell us that one of... More

Very disappointing- the food was well below average but the night was saved by one fantastic dessert (the amazing laminating). But that's really all you could say that was positive. I would not recommend it.

We dined here with our 2 sons (aged 18 & 20) there was not a lot of choose for them but they both settled on the Pork. All our meals were great and the pate was fantastic (you don't see that often on a menu) On our 2nd night we went to another place for dinner but came back for... More
