It was 5:30 pm on a Sunday evening with only one other couple in the restaurant. Our waiter deposited our water and a non-alcoholic beer, took our order and busied himself with other tasks. Left to converse over our water for half an hour, with...only two more couples sitting down at tables, we felt totally forgotten. Eventually our "combo platter, $33 serving two" arrived at the table. After another 15 minutes and our asking for it, the accompanying rice was curtly delivered. We chose lamb kebob meat over the alternate beef choice. It was so tough and over-cooked as to be like wood. Cutting it with our serrated knives was nearly impossible. Forget trying to chew it! The kofte (Turkish meatballs) were highly spiced and very flavorful, but the meat seemed to be nearly raw. By the end of our time there, another person, possibly a family member, was recruited to aid in the waitressing. Only five tables were occupied. We imagined some stress in the kitchen, a failed appliance, an employee no-show. No acknowledgement of difficulties, no apologies, no offer of something simple to tide us over during the prolonged wait. Attracting attention to pay our bill was an effort, and the waiter, passing right in front of us on exiting, didn't even raise his eyes in farewell. We were not troublesome diners. We quietly suffered through eating what we could. We expected more graciousness from the wait staff to be sure, but in the end an edible meal would have sufficed. Never going there again.More
