Roanoke downtown is a good example of what can be done with an older industrial city when folks work at it. Very lovely place to visit and walk around. Lots of eateries sadly some seem very pretentious. We chose Awful Arthur's because we were not wearing attire suitable for some of the other places. They have sort of a pub... More

Much of the seafood was heavily breaded, probably frozen awhile, and then fried hard. We tried the oysters, and they were small but tasty. Unfortunately, this place just doesn't compare to its namesake at the Outer Banks.

I love Awful Arthur's....always have seafood...who wouldn't? Upon meeting out of town friends there I wanted beef! I got the New York Strip and it was great! Another person in my group had the steak as well...delish!

I thought the seafood was average at best. The atmosphere was well themed and there were plenty of choices, all reasonably priced.

We went to this Restaraunt enticed by the name and menu which looked appetizing but were disappointed. It could use a good scrub-down. The food was greasy and heavy. We won't be back, there are much better choices within walking distances.

The first impression was not that this is a nice romantic place for a meal! There are TV's in several locations and with the loud music it was hard to hear one's partner talking! Tried the crab cake sandwich and the salad with grilled cod. They were tasty and the service was good. We wanted to talk but with the... More

Positively awesome. I had Fried Oysters, Crab Cake and the best Hush puppies I have ever tasted and I am not a Hush Puppy eater but these were awesome. I also had an IPA Beer that had grapefruit in it and it was very good as well. Oysters were fresh and a nice size as well as the Crab Cake... More

Good food and good service. The crab soup was yummy. Our waitress was friendly and polite. The restaurant was clean; however, there wasn't enough staff for a large crowd. We were able to have a quick lunch and drink while watching NCAA men's basketball.

Went there many times over the last 10 years and the food keeps getting worse each time. Where do they get their seafood from? The waitresses are slow and have selective hearing :)
