A wonderful evening enjoying Virginia Beach like it was in the 1960s . A rare gem in a town that is being taken over by chain establishments. Food was fresh, local and delicious. Make sure you eat here the next time you are in Virginia Beach. Support the locals and keep a fine old place in business

Stopped here yesterday with a ravenous appetite after a bone-chilling walk on the beach in Sandbridge with our Chocolate Lab. Had a cup of their She-crab soup and some fresh blackened Rock Fish. Both were just what the doctor ordered. Soup, fresh fish and homemade Key Lime Pie and I was a new man. This is a local place, not... More

We go here every time we are in VA Beach and I have not been disappointed yet. Not much to look at from the outside, but it is a wonderful local joint. Very casual with a quaint, friendly atmosphere. You must try the She Crab Soup. It is the best I've found.

On our way to the Back Bay Wildlife Refuge, we passed this unassuming spot, and figured it might be good for lunch. By the time we returned, the parking area was nearly full with the lunch crowd! The she-crab soup, touted as the "world's best", was very good, but not better than Murphy's Pub in Virginia Beach. The atmosphere is... More

Located in Sandbridge, Margie and Ray's Crabhouse is worth a visit. My wife and I always make it a point to visit at least a few times during our winter escape to Virginia Beach. Don't miss their famous She Crab Soup, cup or bowl, which we order without the Old Bay seasoning. Try their pan seared scallops, a huge portion... More

We had a party of 7. They were able to seat right away. The wait staff were friendly. Many huge family crowd. We ordered the steamed crab legs, she crab soup and the Fried Neptune platter. The fried Neptune platter was huge with a lot of foods. Everything was good. It was a nice family gathering dinner place.

Love coming to Margie and Rays. The crab cakes are great, no fillers(breading), the half Margie will leave you stuffed. I am a southern I love my food fried, and the food is very lightly breaded. My husband likes his fish blackened and he is always pleased. with his food. Awesome coleslaw, blue crabs are great and the key lime... More

The first time I went to Margie and Rays was over 30 years ago. At that time it was just a country store frequented by locals. Now years later the building has undergone a transformation and has become without a doubt the best seafood place in the area. Prices are not bad but of course they do have some pricey... More

My family went for dinner. The she crab soup is outstanding! I had all you can get crab legs which is an awesome deal not only can you eat crab legs but all the other options to which include scallops, shrimp, fish, clam strips. You can get fried or grilled. The food was all great as well as the service.

Description
Margie and Ray’s Restaurant was established in 1964 as a small country store and tackle shop which was owned and operated by Ray and Margie Blanton. This landmark building located on a dirt road, now known as Sandbridge Road, served as a convenience for local Sandbridge residents. The store was passed on to their son Thomas in 1997 where it was renovated into a small seafood restaurant. Over the past several years Margie and Ray’s has become known as one of the top seafood establishments in the southern end of Virginia Beach. It continues to be operated by Thomas Blanton.
