Best fried chicken in Virginia, but we always get the buffet so we can have catfish, bread pudding, beets, beans, potatoes, and other choices that vary. Pies are fabulous. You cannot leave without getting lots of peanuts--chocolate covered, dill pickle, mixed, bacon maple, wasabi ginger, and the list goes on. . .

This restaurant is busy all day long for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can order off the menu and the menu is quite long or you can get the buffet which is $12.99. The food is quite good and they have quite a few desserts. They have a gift shop that sells a variety of Virginia peanuts. An experience that... More

We stopped here en route from the Outer Banks to Washington Dulles Airport (took the off the beaten track route to avoid Norfolk & Williamsburg). We decided we wanted to stop for coffee and a bite to eat and suddenly came across this place. It was early afternoon and the place was fairly busy, we said we just wanted coffe... More

Classic diner food perfect for a quick drive through the country. I went for the ham biscuits and they were really good. Grab a slice of peanut pie, kind of like pecan pie but with peanuts. Good comfort food with really great service.

We were driving through Wakefield about lunch time so decided to have lunch at the Virginia Diner. We had the buffet because we were 90 minutes behind schedule and figured the buffet would be the fastest way to have lunch.I thought the fried chicken was very good and everything else was typical of what food tastes like after sitting in... Many restaurants offer pecan pie, but Virginia Diner offers a very tasty peanut pie you'll want to try. Their buffet boasts delicious fried catfish and fried chicken, plus a wide variety of hot veggies that will appeal to diners of all ages. Their banana pudding and cobblers are tasty treats. Parking can sometimes be challenging, but don't be dismayed if... More

Was greeted promptly upon entering the restaurant and seated. The food, service and atmosphere was just great. It added to the afternoon's outing. Would recommend to others.

Stopped in our way back from a day trip. We have heard about the restaurant before. It was very crowded but the server was immediately at our table. We decided to have the buffet $12.95 plus drinks and it was a fantastic choice. At least twelve different vegetable choices and 6 meat choices were available. I highly recommend the carrot... More

Friends recommend this restaurant, we hit the breakfast buffet and it was good. The fried apples were very good, wasn't happy with the bacon it seemed to be fried in tube deep fryer. The eggs and the biscuits were good. Not a bad place to eat breakfast, next time we are that way will try the lunch menu. The staff... More

We eat here every time we pass through Wakefield. I always enjoy the ham biscuits but the Waldorf salad with peanut sauce and peanuts on top is my favorite. Also on my list are the carrot soufflé, the stewed tomatoes and peanut pie. Not a fancy place but definitely worth a visit for southern food.
