We thought we would give the moody Cow another try after last times disappointment. Overall it was better this time. The two waiters were attentive and cheerful and not prone to interrupting. Still use the phrase “you guys” which is annoying. Starters were the brie...wedges. Good flavour but only three pieces and a huge garnish. Mains were the sea bass and two filet steaks. The steaks were good, if closer to medium that medium rare. The seabass was a very small fish placed skin side up on a pile of vegetables . The sauce was predominately over the skin which was a shame as I don’t eat then skin. We skipped dessert. £93.44 was top end for the three of us. Gents toilets were out of towels again!!More

Having had a disappointing meal here a few years ago, we decided to give it another chance on Sunday for a family meal, however we shouldn't have bothered! For starter my father in law ordered the soup of the day, which turned up cold, however...he didn't complain and ate it. My partner and I ordered the sharing bread board at £10 which consisted of 2 small measly bread rolls, 2 breadsticks, 1 pitta bread and some dips. To charge £10 for what was basically 50p's worth of food is completely extortionate; however we didn't complain. When the mains arrived, my partners 14oz medium/rare rump steak turned up well done and dry. Another member of our party order a pizza, which he witnessed being sat under a heat lamp for 10/15 minutes before he received it, and when he finally did it was cold and burnt. My partner has never sent food back, but at £22 the steak had to be returned, along with the burnt pizza. On top of this my father in law had ordered a Sunday lunch which didn't arrive. When we asked about its whereabouts it was quite obvious it had been forgotten. Eventually the 3 meals turned up and were nice and I do have to say that the meals we received correctly were very tasty. In the middle of all this we had ordered some more drinks, which didn't arrive. I think I had to ask for them 3 times before they finally turned up. I would like to say that the young waiter who was serving us was very nice and apologetic and none of this was his fault, however the restaurant wasn't busy and it would have been nice to have been offered some kind of discount or even just an apology from the manager. We will definitely not be visiting here again, which is a real shame as it is very local to us and it would have been nice to have a good restaurant to visit on a regular basis.More

I have passed this eaterie for many years and was never attracted to visit. It always looked rather dark and moody, which I guessed was their niche. I visited for lunch. I parked in the car park around the back. The first things that caught...my eye were cig butt ends in the car park and a broken glass pane on the entrance door. The bar looks great on entry. A large room. It looks like a cafe I would visit in Budapest rather than the restaurant I envisaged. My mis-judgement🙃 The service is excellent that I received, a happy smile and very helpful. I ordered an 8oz fillet steak with peppercorn sauce and fries. The meat was superb, top marks to the chef. The peppercorn sauce was perfect and fresh ✅ Overall experience was outstanding. I dropped 1 star due to the decor, which I did not find welcoming for a steak house. I recommend a visit, and I will visit again.More

5 of us went for a celebratory dinner , waiting staff very pleasant & attentive 👍to the waitress’s Staters all ok , 2 mains pulled brisket nice & tasty however sticky red cabbage was more just red cabbage & didn’t spot/taste truffles in mash ?...Biggest disappointment was that although this restaurant classes itself as a steakhouse they obviously cannot cook a steak ! 3 ribeyes all at medium rare came well done ??? Sent back & took 30 minutes to return ( by which time 2 of party had finished meal ) new steaks were raw ! Even manager agreed ,by now we’d been there 2 hours , abandoned mains & had 3 desserts Appalled that all that had been deducted from bill was the 3 steaks which had not been eaten & the 3 desserts ! Service charge had also been added ! After intense discussion with manager ( I remained polite ) service charge was removed & 10% Not good enough won’t be returningMore
