Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very nice pub indeed with a tasty gastro feel. Wholesome food and a lovely village vibe. Nice Northern Soul soundtrack too Highly recommended

Really nice evening here. Very welcoming and friendly. Lovely, quirky interior without trying too hard. So nice to have a vegetarian meal that's a) not vegan one-size-fits-all and b) not goats cheese! And if you like onion rings these were special! A folk music session...in the back room made for a nice backdrop without being too loud to talk over in the next room. Will definitely go back.More

We enjoy coming for the Sunday roast in the quaint surroundings. The prices are reasonable and the standard of food is very good with tasty meat and Yorkshire puds, served with a good variety of vegetables and plenty of gravy. The staff are friendly and...efficient so I would definitely recommend.More

First time & expected more...it too 15 mins to get served at the bar which had children running around!! Saturday only 1 person serving. We took ourselves to dining area to find someone to seat us at 6.30pm 45 minutes later our meal was served....Food was very good. No complaints there. No house wine option. £24 bottle bought which was very nice. (Retails at £7.99)More

We are sorry to read that certain aspects of your visit to us on Saturday was disappointing. The evening was unusually busy and we did get caught out with our staffing. This happens occasionally and I appreciate that it may have effected your wait times...More

Looking for a nice Sunday lunch not far from Misterton, lead us to The Blue Bell, where we had booked for 3pm but they got us seated with drinks a half hour early (top marks) The Roast Beef was excellent, portions generous and the service...super friendly, with the pub itself nicely busy with a few little quirks and details that made the setting just that little bit nicer- quirky and eclectic sprang to mind. Sunday lunch for two with desserts and soft drinks (no Neck Oil as was driving 🤨) came to less than £50 which you cannot grumble at in 2023. We will be back for sure.More

First time visiting this lovely pub, the starters were great, in taste and presentation. Couldn’t wait for the main, but was let down massively by the Sunday lunch. Come on guys, a traditional British pub getting a traditional Sunday roast so so wrong!! At £15.95...it’s quite expensive and for that you get, literally an inedible rubber block of microwave mash you can pick up whole with your hands, frozen roast potatoes, yes 100% frozen!!! really? Is it too much trouble to peel some spuds and roast them!!! Very dry inedible cardboard Yorkies, dried out veg. The meat was really lovely as where the parsnips, the only thing we ate on the plate. Is without doubt, one of the worst Sunday roasts I have ever had and we eat out a lot and are pretty well travelled. Even Toby carvery knocks spots off this at half the price!! Service was pretty rubbish too, we had to approach the bar to ask for someone to come and take our order. When we got our meals at no point was we asked if everything was ok, otherwise we would have sent it back. After we finished, we made the waitresses aware and they said they will tell the chef. We heard nothing as they never came back, again had to go to the bar to ask for the bill. Nothing was said, we had to bring up the problems, they removed the roasts from the bill without any apologies or explanation at all.More

A simple review really. We nipped in on the way past for a light meal on the way home. The bar was cool which was welcome away from the heat. We ordered a pint and a gin. Can't comment about the gin but the beer...was good. Asked if we could order food and menus were brought to the table. Steak Salad for us both which was tender, light and plentiful. I had 2 more pints which were brought to us. Actually I should have not had the last one because at 5.5% its a good job I had a driver! It was good food and beer with a nice atmosphere, no fuss.More

The food is nice , overpriced drinks . London prices for a pint of neck oil and overpriced non alcoholic cider . Nice pub , need to realise the competition in the surrounding area are better value! Good luck for the future!

Cold and very tough meat had to ask for a steak knife to cut it. The girl behind the bar could see that I had left it but was too busy massaging a customers shoulders, Complained but no refund given. They were more interested in...a loud bunch of guys near the bar. I had to take it home to recook it. The worst Sunday lunch ever, 😡😡More

Visited with my family this evening, the food was great, fantastic value and the service was excellent. Such a beautiful location, off the beaten track and popular with atmosphere but without the usual hoards. We are always there for a drink whilst the kids play...(despite living in central Doncaster) but this was our first meal here. Would definitely recommend. Wander round the village too for a post-dinner pastoral treat.More

My friends and I visited the blue bell last night for a meal and some drinks and was very pleased. Staff were thankfully willing to take food orders after 8pm, Cody location, menu was very unique to most local places (very nice choices), meal was...exceptional and service was equally as good. Friends also spoke highly of the drinks they had to offer. To the staff, thanks again for serving us at a time where you were more than ready to go home!More
