Do yourself a favor and go get a pulled pork sandwich here. It's a little hole in the wall place next to a fish place but I have never had such a delicious pulled pork sandwich. It was great in size and not skimpy of the pork or BBQ sauce. Definitely would come here again!

Visited Big Jakes on our visit to the Big Island. We've been there in the past and always look forward to the experience. This year, we ate there once -- tried on several other occasions but even though they were supposed to be open, they were closed. Chatted with a local resident and he informed us that Big Jakes is... We stopped here as the building is shared with the Poke Shack. We had the Slaw Dog and BBQ Dog's with homemade lemonade and they were insanely good! My Sister-In Law had Poke while watching us enviously. Jake is very nice and made everything fresh, my Fianc'ee was in his element!

We spent the day at two step and was looking for a lunch spot outside Kona, something local. After using the trip advisor app we decided on Big Jakes. We had a large group (17) all excited for Bbq. It was a very strange experience, the place seemed almost abandoned with only one other small group eating on a picnic... More

We were heading from Kona to Volcano, and we stopped here for lunch. Parking is a bit tight, but workable. Thank heavens for the rear cameras. Anyway, we decided to split our lunch between the two restaurants who shared this spot. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, cut in half, which was tasty. This was a relatively cheap, good lunch,... Big Jake's hosted a visit from 41 middle school students on a school trip to the Big Island. Dinner was pre-ordered and ready and waiting for us when we arrived. Ribs, brisket, chicken, or fresh caught fish - all exceptional. Great setting, great food, great people - HIGHLY recommend.

Had a great lunch here while visiting the Captain Cook area. I don't know if it was the best chicken I ever had- but we went later in the afternoon when they had run out of many food items. Make sure you go early! :)
