Very popular spot in Hilo but higher menu prices that expected. The average meal was in excess of $15 per plate. The place is always busy possibly because it is on a main thorough fare in Hilo, close to hotels and the airport. If one is adventurous less expensive, small eating establishments can be found in side streets or shopping... More

We love Ken's. The wait staff is friendly and very attentive. Food comes FAST. A Hilo institution that we have eaten at dozens of times. Don't expect great food but we have never had a bad meal there.

There's an extensive menu that goes way beyond pancakes. The atmosphere is something like a large diner. Good but not exceptional food and prices.

The food here is plentiful and reasonably priced. If you can't find something on the menu to eat, then it's your problem. The menu offers a variety of food choices and it reminded us of a diner, only Hawaiian style. We ate there twice and wish we were staying closer so we could eat there every meal. Our server had... Family and I ate lunch here after being rained out of a volcano helicopter tour. Food was outstanding! I strongly recommend the oxtail stew, it was truly delicious. Service was great and the place was impeccably clean.

Bonus is that it is always open. We went for a late desert. It was not good at all. Kinda old and dirty place. The waiter was meh. To many great places in HI to go here.

Stopped by around noon on a Sunday - luckily got one of the parking spots right away, but lots of people had to circle or park elsewhere. Worth the effort, though - as evidenced by the steady stream of customers during the time we were there. Good food, large portions and efficient staff. Ken's has been around since the early... More

Definitely eat here when you are hungry! Don't pass it up! I had banana pancakes, macadamia nut pancakes and coconut pancakes. My husband had a crab omelet. Wish there was a Kens in our home town. Would definitely go back!
